Topic: Ignoring The Illusion
June 27, 2015

HANS:
Hello everybody. Welcome, welcome, welcome. You should see the hoops we're having to jump through in order to be able to do this today but it makes us happy to be able to get to you. The topic for today is "Ignoring The Illusion." You know folks, in life, you often heard me say that: Life is nothing more than an illusion. And I preface it by saying: You know, there's nothing going on in your life that you did not create. The mind, however, is an entirely different entity and it actually believes that these are real problems... that these things that you're going through you need to be concerned about, you need to be worried about.

This month I asked my dear friend Melinda to please write about this subject. And I have to tell all of you, she's done a terrific job and you'll see it in the Newsletter which will be coming out when, Alfred?

ALFRED:
We usually do them in the first week of each month and there's about 2 or 3 years of Articles and Spiritual Topics specifically for women. You can find those in the Newsletter, or you can go to HansKing.com and under "Free Resources" you can find the "Free Articles for Women."

HANS:
Life, as we know it, is based on what each one of us is busy creating. Okay? That's something that's very, very hard for people to grasp. They believe what they're seeing is real. But folks, everyday in your life you pass through other people's emotions, other people's creations. So nothing is actually planned folks. Spirit has an overall plan for all of us and we stay on that. But everything else... how you arrive at your destination is entirely up to you. Okay?

And so having a quiet understanding that: Oh, wait a minute, this isn't real... I had a dear lady friend of mine email me the other day and her life has just gotten so complex. She's worried about money, she's worried about being alone, she's worried about whether she'll lose her job, she's worried about whether she'll make her mortgage payment, her light bill was too high... this and that. It's just non-stop. But none of it is "real" and none of it is "true." But the mind chatter continues to invest in the appearance of it. And the more the mind chatter invests in the appearance of it, the larger it gets and seems to become "real."

This is why I say to you... You know I did a lecture at Agape some years ago and one of the questions that I asked was... about 1,400 people in the audience, I said: Can anyone in this room tell me what's going on in their life that they did not create? And nobody raised their hand... nobody. But you also don't sit around and sit that I'm making up this stuff either... for yourself. You know you're having these fears and doubts but you normally don't say: Am I just making this up? Is this real? Why am I lending energy to this?

So one of the things that Alfred and I teach is when you learn to start to pull yourself back from the appearance of what you've created, your whole life as you have known it, changes immediately. Alfred, any words on this?

ALFRED:
One thing about ignoring the illusion that we want you to understand is how much your mind tries to trick you into making what it thinks is "real". It's not just that mind chatter reminds you of the past or makes you worried about the future. But it makes you "feel" as though those things are actually "real." And the truth is - it's the past, it's gone, it doesn't exist. But your mind will not just simply remind you of what happened. It will remind you of the emotion, or it will remind you of the pain like it was yesterday. And you need to ask yourself when you're feeling something that's in the past to say: How real does it feel? But how long ago really was it? Was it last year, five years ago, ten years ago, twenty years ago?

HANS:
Exactly.

ALFRED:
But your mind is making it "feel" like it was yesterday. That's not the truth. That's an illusion. And the same thing also with the future is if your mind is making you worried about something that does not exist, because the future does not exist yet, it feels like it is "real." What if this could happen? What if that happens? And your mind makes you start freaking out and worrying like it is the truth. Like it is actually happening. And you're getting all stressed. And the reality is it's an illusion. Your mind is making you feel stressed about something that doesn't exist.

HANS:
And I've noticed, Alfred, that through the years when Spirit and I in our sessions try to remove those fears and those doubts from the people, they try desperately to hang onto them.

ALFRED:
And that's what we're trying to say is just because you "feel" something is real, doesn't mean it is real. It is an illusion. Okay? So it's not just that your mind presents you with false truths in its speaking but it makes you "feel" things that are not true also. And it really detaches us from a state of ease, it detaches us from our peacefulness, it detaches us from who we really are.

HANS:
And as we've always taught you - No two things can be in the same place at the same time. So when you're busy running all of this stuff... How often, Alfred, have both of us heard: I don't think Spirit hears me. They hear you. You have no place to hear Them. You're too busy manufacturing all of these illusions and not only, children, do you manufacture them, you spend time and effort investing in them, re-creating them over and over and over again.

So it's really important to sit down and ask yourself: Wait a minute. Is in fact any of this true? And what you're going to find out is: No, it's not true. But your mind chatter will try to tell you that the illusion is real because it created it. And like Alfred said earlier, it's always a matter of what "could" happen.

ALFRED:
Yes. For things in the future, things that "could" happen, there is a difference between thinking about something in the future that "could" happen and what your mind does to you which is making you believe that it is "real" and that you should actually prepare yourself and feel for that thing that is real that doesn't exist in the future.

HANS:
(Laughing) I know that if you're listening to this now. Alfred's smiling. It does sound funny - but it's true. Have you noticed that most of the questions that come into this Show are questions about what "might" be going to happen? And them some of them are about "why did that happen"... which used to be a "what if this happens?" Because being in the human form we tend to take the improbable and turn it into the appearance of reality. Have you noticed that, Sir?

ALFRED:
Especially if something has happened to you in the past, your mind wants to protect you. It wants to control the distinct possibility that what it's telling you is the truth and it's going to happen again and you need to protect yourself. And it needs to remind you of what happened, so that you can remember what happened, and you can feel what happened, in case it happens to you again.

HANS:
Exactly. It tries to reinforce itself.

ALFRED:
So the funny thing is that your mind is actually bringing to you that which you're trying to avoid.

HANS:
Exactly.

ALFRED:
How's that one for a "why?" So you're trying to avoid the thing. But in the reality, your mind is bringing it to you every single day by you thinking about it and the mind makes you "feel" like it actually is happening. So if you think about that, your mind is actually really convoluted. But it's so hard and that's what we're trying to tell you, is to tell the difference between something that isn't "real" - the past and the future... in this case the past, something that happened. It's over.

Now we do have a lot of Advanced Meditations in the Intuitive Development Class that help you separate who you are from things that happened in the past. We're trying to tell you right now just to be "aware" that your mind is doing these things "to" you. It's much more advanced to say: Okay, now that I'm aware that these things are lie, what do I do with the lies? How do I handle them?

So what we're talking about is whether your mind chatter is making you believe or feel something is the truth is really to dissect the matter and determine: Is this truth? Is this real?

HANS:
That's the key point, Alfred, right there. Is it truth? No fear is truth. Now there are moments in our life where somebody may cut us off on the freeway or there's a close call with another person in some sort of endeavor you're doing where fear will come up.

ALFRED:
Or your child is running around the house with a knife.

HANS:
Yes, well that would do it.

ALFRED:
Yes, that's real fear.

HANS:
Did you ever do that, Alfred? Or was it a broomstick or a baseball bat?

ALFRED:
We used to play with elastics. Like shoot elastics. And my parents would always scream: Be careful! It's going to hit you in the eye! And one day it did. The elastic went in the wrong direction... That's real. Okay? But the majority of what your mind tells you we want you to take a look at and dissect it calmly and say: Is it real? Is it really appropriate that I'm on high alert feeling these emotions.

HANS:
So basically what we're saying to you is investing in the illusion of what the mind chatter is creating takes you directly away from your ability to engage Spirit. And the more you do that, the more you invest, the less and less and less... And then you wind up emailing Alfred and I and say: Where has God gone? Where has Spirit gone? They haven't gone anywhere - you have. The adage is that: No two things can be in the same place at the same time.

ALFRED:
And what we're trying to tell you is: God is always there. Guidance is always there. Spirit is always there. Universal energy, abundance, love - that is always there. The question is: Are you allowing your humanness to separate you from that which always is? Okay? Let me say that again: Are you allowing yourself to separate from that which always is? Are you allowing your mind chatter, are you allowing these feelings to come in and take over you and separate you and block that which always is around you?

HANS:

We do that ourself, children. We simply do it ourself. Alfred, I think that will conclude the lesson for today.

Topic: The Pain of Lost Expectations
June 6, 2015

HANS:
Hello everyone. Welcome to the show. Today's topic is "The Pain of Lost Expectations." You know folks, throughout my lifetime in service, there is one recurring theme that is extremely painful for a lot of people. If you listen, everyone, to the questions that people send in, there sort of is a theme. Now what is that theme?  A lost expectation.

How do we get to lost expectations? In our humanness, we, from time to time, have a strong feeling in our heart or in our mind that we should know this person or we should move to this place or we should be doing this kind of a job or we should be doing this service work of some kind... And oftentimes, the expectation isn't met.

Let's go to relationships, folks. A lot of people will say to me: But Hans I knew it in my heart. Let's talk about the gals first, then we'll talk about the guys. Gals, a lot of times you see somebody, and there's this tug that comes in the chest and you just feel that you know this person, you just feel you want to have something to do with this person, even perhaps become lovers and partners. And this is very strong, and this is POW! It just hits you so hard. But nothing happens. And the person is very nice to you. They talk to you about their partner or what they're doing, but you don't see a lean in towards a relationship.

What is happened there is, most likely, you have met someone from a previous lifetime. So it isn't just the mind and the heart, the soul recognizes that person. And when the soul recognizes that person, it hones right in, and says: Oh, there's my old friend; Oh, there's my old husband, my old wife... Okay? But what you're doing is, what you've heard me refer to before as "soul crossing." Where you just go by each other to say hello and to be remembered.

But the humaneness of you sets an expectation. And when the humanness of you sets an expectation, because you believe, you tell God you would like a response to your expectation. Even if God, the Spirit, is trying to say to you: Just passing by. You don't want to hear that, you don't want to know that, you don't want to project into this. Because you "know," because you have this "feeling." So this feeling of "I know that person and I know I'm going to be with that person"... A lot of the times comes out of a need to be loved. It comes out of a need to be "seen," a need to be "accepted," a need to be someone's "everything." Even though it isn't to be, for you.

I cannot tell you how many people Spirit and I counsel a week just listening to people talk about they know that this person is to be in their life. And sometimes, no matter what I say, no matter what I do, they don't want to hear it. You might check around yourself, see if there's some things in here that you might be holding onto with expectations that you may want to say: Is this causing me pain?

Alfred, what do you say on this? I always like to bring Alfred in when it's like a deer in the headlight moment...

ALFRED:
Expectations are a very difficult spiritual lesson. Yet this lesson can have really profound results...

HANS:
Absolutely.

Alfred:
… in terms of your peace and happiness. Expectation is the mind's view of what should happen, the outcome, in the future. So what you're looking at is getting your humanness, your mind chatter involved as to what it thinks the future should be. Spirituality as we all know is surrendering the future, being in the moment, and letting go of those things that we desire, or our mind chatter tells us we “should” have. And that's where we get ourselves in trouble is when our mind sets us up to expect something in our life and it doesn't happen. The mind has a really hard time understanding: Well, why didn't this happen?

HANS:
Exactly. And oftentimes Alfred, I'm sure you've found, like I have, that the mind often blames the Spirit or blames God. Why didn't God do this for me? Why didn't God give me this? This is what I wanted. I knew it would happen. And we kind of get ourself into a belief trauma as well.

ALFRED:
Yes, and a lot of spirituality is about surrendering. It's about being peaceful and happy in the moment, about being grateful for what you have, realizing that your glass is half full. Having an expectation is that my glass is going to be completely full, or it's going to be more full than it already is. The opposite is: No, I'm peaceful and grateful where I am in the moment.

HANS:
Very good, thank you Alfred. That's the key right there - being peaceful in the moment. Not setting an expectation. Folks, do you think the Spirit doesn't know what's in your heart? Do you think They don't know your longing, your needs, your desires? Of course They do. But They also know your plan. They have a carbon copy of your dharma. They know where you're supposed to be and who you're supposed to be with. But in the game of life, as we see it, people come by us, who we recognize and we think: Oh, there's my soul mate.

Now let's go away from relationships for a minute and let's go to expectations regarding things that you would like to have in your life - a new house, a new car, a new job... Let's go to job. A lot of times we set our expectations for a new position. If we don't have a job, we set our expectations for a job. But when we do that, we also fantasize into it about how it needs to look so we can be okay with it. Rather than say: I'm available for that perfect job that is for me at this time. Not tomorrow, not next week, at this time. Thank you for bringing the doors for this to me.

We set our statement, and then we add all of these little subtleties to it. And before you know it, what was just getting you a maintenance job for the moment, has turned into this life-long dream of yours to be this or to do that. So, lost expectations come about when we set them. So the expectation happens when we say... Rather than say: I would like the feeling and I would like the awareness of this particular thing... and I would enjoy seeing how this might be in my life and letting it go... and I would say: to my highest good always.

So They get it. They hear where you're coming from. You're not saying you're going to be less than if it doesn't happen. You're already enough as you are right now. You don't need anything whatsoever. You might like the experience of something. And as Alfred would throw in: And here's how I would like to feel in the experience. That's how you set, what we call today, expectations. Where we don't say: And I want it to show up this way, and I need for this person to love me, and I need this particular job... and all these things that we do in our humanness. They're roadblocks. Somebody wrote, Alfred, I don't know who, but they said: "Expectations are limitations." You remember that?

ALFRED:
Expectations are a limitation because it is something that your mind chatter created. It's part of ego, maybe it's something that you saw on television, maybe it's something that your parents told you you deserved, maybe you're trying to live up to the Jones or your friends, and unknowingly you set an expectation of "this is what I want in my life" and it becomes a limitation because everything else that comes across that doesn't look like what your mind is telling you you should have, is now instantly dismissed. However, how do you know what is being presented to you isn't for your highest good? A person that may not meet all of your items on your list may be your soul mate.

HANS:
Yes.

ALFRED:
However, you have an expectation written down in your list of what your soul mate should look like and the Other Side presents you with your soul mate and you dismiss that person. So having an expectation, having an opinion, a judgment of what should be in your life and what it should look like, is an absolute limitation because then you are dismissing, without even a consideration, those things that Spirit presents to you.

HANS:
Folks, sometimes when we set our agenda, we sort of say to Spirit, taking off on what Alfred was just talking about: And this is how I want it to look, and this is how I want it to arrive. If you have perfect faith, if you believe, then you tell the Spirit what you would like the experience of and that's it... and how you would like to feel. Those two things. I think two-thirds of all the questions that come into this Radio Show are from lost expectations. If you go back and you listen to all the Shows... My gosh Alfred, how many shows have we done now? Quite a few...

Alfred:
Four years... about four years.

HANS:
Well that's almost 200 shows. And many of you are the ones who are in the pain of the lost expectation. Folks, I'm not saying it isn't painful. But what you don't realize is why would you want someone who doesn't want you? Why would you do that to yourself? Why would you put yourself in that position? And I hear people say all the time: Oh, I knew that they were for me. I knew it. It's their fault. They're not living up to what they're supposed to do. And very rarely, but it does happen, that's true. But Spirit always has a contingency for a contingency for every contingency.

So if you're supposed to be loved at a certain level, you will be. It may not be by this person. But they bring another person in and you'll say: Oh, I'm so glad that I didn't get first person because this person really works wonderfully for me. Letting go of expectations regarding parents... This is the tough one folks. When you let go of the pain and the expectations of the parents, your life gets so much easier. Does it not, Alfred?

ALFRED:
It really does because then you stop putting energy towards something that might happen in the future. That's number one is you think that thing in the future will actually fix you. If this happens, then I'll be happier, if this person comes into my life, I'll be better. And the reality is, by letting go of anything that has to do with the future, the past, as we all know also, helps you become more peaceful and happy and blissful and joyful in the moment. Expectations are a reflection of what's happened in our past and projects us out into our future which takes us away from being grateful in the moment. So again, it's a huge step towards your spiritual growth to let go of expectations in order for you to be grateful and peaceful in the moment.

HANS:
Folks, many of you run on a time constraint. Oh, I'm getting old... oh, if I get much older I can't have children... will she still want me when I get to be 50? We run under this fear umbrella of we're running out of time. Folks, there is no time. Oftentimes when the Spirit speaks to you, They say something, They're saying that person will be in your life, probably coming up next lifetime. Not always this one. So letting yourself simply learn to "be" with “no expectations.” I'm here in this moment, this is the experience I would like to have, I give it to you to do for me to my highest good, and bring those doors to me. Then you're saying: I trust you. I know that this pain in my heart really is self induced.

And one thing in lost expectations, children, never, ever, ever, become a victim or make the other person a villain. I know clients who have made other people villains in their life only because they didn't live up to this person or that person's expectation of how that person would be. So they pre-set the expectation of how it had to be. But the other person wasn't at that spot. But that doesn't make any difference. Because these people say: Oh, but I knew it was for me, there was no doubt it was for me, and I'm coming to stick this out.

One of the biggest things that people do is when they fall in love with married people, or committed people. I know she's for me... I know he's for me... and I know they're going to leave that person... and I know they're going to be with me. What you are picking up is your experience of that person from a previous lifetime and you get confused about this. If a person is in a relationship, you need to honor that and walk away - period. Under almost any circumstance. If that relationship is to be, it will show up somewhere down the road with you having absolutely no expectations and nothing to do with it. Okay?

Now, as you go through your life, there are going to be moments when you see someone or something you would really, really like the experience of. Sit down, be quiet, and say to Spirit: I don't know if this situation or this person is for me. But I am available if they are. I'm available to my highest good. Please show me where I need to be with this issue and drop it. Make yourself, of course, available in your heart. But have no expectation of how it has to happen, how it has to show up.

I know a person, a couple of months ago, who met a person on an airplane. And they struck up a conversation and he was a married person and this girl felt she knew him and she started running all the fantasies and what have you... She drove herself to the point where she had to go to the hospital in a panic attack because he had not called her, when he never said he would. But she knew it, in her heart, that he was going to call. This is what I'm talking about when we disturb our peace, when we disturb our ease. Okay?

So having a quiet awareness that where you... Folks, why do you think Alfred and I talk so much about being in the now? Making this moment right now all there is. I am enough. Why do you think we do that? Because it's only the mind that brings attachments to the peace. The heart doesn't have to. Only the mind disturbs the peace. The heart never does. So when we learn: Oh, I got to feel something, isn't that wonderful, I'm still alive...

The other day Alfred and I were walking somewhere and the wind was whistling and Alfred's dressed up looking like a polar bear, you can't even see his face with the hoodie he's got on, and I'm in a T-shirt. And he said something and I said under my breath: Yes, but at least I have feelings. I can feel it. Isn't that wonderful? Feeling the cold wind on your face, feeling the Caribbean sand in your feet, feeling a smile on your face when you see a puppy... Those are the things folks, that are important.

So the greatest gift you give yourself is to stop expectations and replace them with a knowing and an understanding that Spirit is here for you. They know what is supposed to be for you. Let Them do their work and many times their work does not show up in your expectation. Alfred, what did Mick Jagger say in that song? You don't always get what you want...

ALFRED:
… but if you try sometimes, you just might find you get what you need.

HANS:
There is a metaphysical statement if ever there was one. So where you already are, right now folks, is perfect. Have you ever noticed everyone that no matter how bad things seem to get, somehow you always get through? No matter how broke you are, no matter how poor you may be in a moment, somehow, something happens and you get through? Have you ever noticed that when you've had a relationship you think it's your end-all, be-all, and this person says: I'm sorry it doesn't work for me. Your heart is broken, it's shattered and on the floor. A year later you wonder what you ever saw in the person because you're with somebody else.

Just being peaceful, in the moment, will bring to you all the lessons you need to learn. So less expectations is less pain. Alfred, I think that will conclude the lesson for today.

Topic: Recover Your Joy
December 7, 2014

Hans:
Hello everyone. Welcome, welcome. It's a beautiful afternoon here in Asheville, North Carolina. A little rainy and we're supposed to get a little cold, but I guess the whole country is cold. Today's topic is "Recover Your Joy." One of the first things that I recommend, one of the things that we taught Alfred and so many people through the years is: If you want to see something to make you bring joy into your heart, go stick your nose in a flower. If it's winter, and I think I've said this before, pull something up on your computer  and look at the flowers. Just go find some flowers. This will bring a sense of wonder to you. How did all of this ever happen? You know folks, we deny ourselves joy simply though our mind. But there is so much that we can do as simple spirits in human form to remember our joy in life. Nature, I believe is one of the best. You know when I look out of my windows here, we live on the side of a mountain here, and it's all full of trees and water. And when I look outside and even though someone might say: Well, there's no leaves on the trees. You know it's cold. You can find beauty in that. And I find beauty in the way the wind whistles through the trees. And there's still some leftover leaves and we have the squirrels and the raccoons and the chipmunks and every kind of bird you can imagine. And they're all out there and they're not wondering whether or not they're going to be happy or not. They're just worrying about eating, which makes them happy. Nature. Stick your nose in a flower. What do you think Alfred?

Alfred:
Well, what we're trying to do here is give you spiritual practices about helping yourself be happy. And one of the first that Hans is talking about is nature. And you'll notice during the entire show we're going to tell you ways to infuse joy into your life that won't cost you a penny. Or maybe a little bit. We bought a monstrous bag of really good dog food and that cost us about $25...

Hans:
At Costco.

Alfred:
At Costco of course. We're going to feed the raccoons, the possums, the squirrels, the occasional bear, for about three or four months and that cost us $25. I think I spend about $7 on bird food maybe once a month or so. So these are really inexpensive ways to make yourself be happy. And this is so against, like all of our teachings here are, against what they try to teach you on television. Which is: Buy, Buy, Buy. And we're saying: No. Here's a bunch of ways for you to be happy by doing really simple things.

Hans:
I'm going to jump out of our comfort zone for just a moment and say I was really very happy to see on the internet that there was a backlash among the buying public about going from having your Thanksgiving Dinner to running out to shop. Apparently that blew up in their face. That's a good sign for the country. You know, Alfred, one of the things that is really wonderful to do if you're feeling a little down? Go for a walk. Go for a walk and look. Look all around. Look up. Find something interesting. Move yourself out of your sense of despair. And remember that joy is always with you, at all times. You are not separate from your own joy. It's only your mind's perception. I remember Alfred when I told you to go outside and look at a flower. You remember that?

Alfred:
I thought he was crazy. I said: Flower? Hmm, yeah me city boy who lived in concrete for most of his life...

Hans:
Banker...

Alfred:
Yes.

(Alfred and Hans chuckling)

Hans:
Banker Consciousness... It was severe, folks.

Alfred:
Yes. So one of the teachings that I now pass along to my students is: If you've got nothing else to do and you want to make yourself feel happy, go stick your nose two inches from a flower. Pretty much I can guarantee you'll feel better.

Hans:
Yes. You really, really are going to feel better. Anything that breaks the mind's perception of the moment has the possibility to bring you joy. Now I know we all have days when there's an appearance that no matter what you do, it's not going to go well. You wonder why you ever got out of bed in the first place or could you just go back to bed. Break the perception of the moment children. That's what's important. Because the mind tends to want to concentrate when you're in lack of joy. It wants to concentrate on the problem. Whatever the problem it perceives it may be. But it wants to go there. It doesn't want you to not fuss. It wants you to suffer. Now Alfred mentioned about feeding the birds or feeding the ducks. These little things that you can do help to break the mind's grip on you and opens up the possibility for joy in your life. Alfred, how many animals are you feeding now do you suppose?

Alfred:
Let's see here. There's the chipmunks, there's the squirrels, there's various types of birds. We now have inherited a medium sized Woodpecker, a couple of bachelor Cardinals, all kinds of regular birds during the daytime. At night we've got possums, we've got the occasional bear, lots of raccoons. And of course The Princess Super Model, Bella.

Hans:
Yes.

Alfred:
Yes. We can't forget about The Princess Super Model.

Hans:
Alfred, do we have a picture up on the website yet?

Alfred:
Bella?

Hans:
Yes, of Miss Bella.

Alfred:
I should do that actually.

Hans:
Yes. Well you know she said she wants to have an advice column.

Alfred:
Yes. Advice from The Princess Super Model.

Hans:
Yes. About...

Alfred:
You too...

Hans:
About how to raise your parents.

Alfred:
She does give it a good job.

Hans:
She does indeed. You know Alfred, another thing that one can do is have what I call "a giving mind," a giving consciousness. Look folks, you may not have a lot of money to sort of go around and buy everybody presents and to give a lot of money to different causes. But what you can do, since we know that thoughts are living things, you can serve through your mind. Spirit has always taught me that the thought and the intention is as good as the deed. So, if you could you would, is as good as the deed. It actually adds an energy to giving. So through proper loving thinking you are giving. Now this concept was difficult for Alfred in the beginning. But Alfred you actually have gotten that lesson pretty well.

Alfred:
Yes. And giving again is one of those things that you don't need to give money. You can give of yourself. It starts with the intention to serve...

Hans:
Yes, your thoughts...

Alfred:
... with the intention to be of service. That is most important. But what's really funny is, this is one of the true ways to be happy. We're taught again during the Holiday Season that to be happy you're supposed to "buy things" and we're saying: "That's not necessary." To give, you can simply be of service.

Hans:
And giving can come from a place in the heart. If you know that one of your friends is down, but they don't want to talk about it, and they're sort of hiding in themselves, you can just go to the Spirit and say: Please, I've done what I can do for this person, would you please help me to infuse the light into them and bring them the possibilities that may be available in their life? And then just let it go. That turns into an action from Spirit that brightens the quality of that person's life. I can't tell you how many times I have heard someone say: Oh my goodness Hans, I was so depressed and I've only talked to you a couple of minutes but I feel so much better. Giving of yourself, giving kind thoughts, giving hugs... There are times people when you're going to come across someone who, whatever the space they're in, they could be angry, jealous... they could not perhaps find a loving space from their parents in their heart who are just really suffering. Just a hug to that person or a quiet prayer for that person does an enormous amount of good.

Alfred:
Yes. It's basically if you're looking for a way to be happy, go find someone else to help and help them be happy. What you give out, comes back to you.

Hans:
Alrighty. Another thing Alfred that people can do is volunteer their time. There are just thousands and thousands of things out there, organizations and programs that need people for an hour a week, three hours a week, five hours a week. Whatever you can afford of your time. And Spirit sees this. And you are so blessed back because of this action of yours. So learning to give unconditionally, this is the key. I remember my dear grandmother and she had this enormous Christmas Card List and through the years I noticed that it got smaller and smaller and smaller. And I said to her: Grandma what's going on? You used to have like 800 people here. I think it's 300 now. She said: Well, I have a motto. I send people a Christmas Card and if I don't get one back I cross them off the list.  And I said: That's a strange way of living. She said: Well, it's my way. But you see she was giving conditionally, not unconditionally. Give your time. A very, very important one when bringing joy back into your life Alfred is to our old nemesis, our old friend here, the mind chatter. Learn to stop your mind chatter about what's in it for you. What do you think?

Alfred:
And that's one of our core teachings that we go through in The Intuitive Development Class that when you are "of service" and you're helping others, have no expectations, no opinions of the result of what's going to happen, if they're going to help you, or what's in it for you. Basically, expectations, opinions and judgments are some deeply seeded mind chatter. And what we try to teach you is...

Hans:
Yes...

Alfred:
... don't add any more to that which you already have. If you're going to go out and give, and volunteer and help, don't allow yourself to have any expectation of anything in return. Or that it's going to help the person, or how it's going to help the person. Just give.

Hans:
Give for the sheer sake Alfred.

Alfred:
So cut your mind chatter off at the pass...

Hans:
Absolutely.

Alfred:
... and say no expectation, no opinion, I'm just giving for the sake of giving and that's it.

Hans:
You'll find Alfred that your mind chatter does want to interfere with your giving sometimes.

Alfred:
Well, we've been trained that way.

Hans:
Well, I know people Alfred who give because it's expected of them. I know people who actually buy people Christmas presents for no other reason than wanting to be loved. That's not the way to be loved. How about sweeping their front porch? You know if you see an older person that you know has difficulty in doing for themselves a 15 minute gesture, 1/2 hour gesture on your part just works wonders. And I want everyone to know God is there for you. Hear it again: God IS there for you. No matter what the appearance. No matter what is going on in your life right now.  Maybe the holidays depress you. God is there for you. Maybe you feel alone for Christmas. God is there for you. All thoughts are living things. The God-force hears all your thoughts. It's an opportunity for you to practice unconditional love to the universe knowing that the God-force is flowing through you in that action. Okay? Alfred, I also believe that people should try to trust that God has your back.

Alfred:
Yes. And that has to do with fear. Another very difficult lesson for a lot of old souls that have been through some very interesting lessons is: this is going to come after me, that's going to happen to me, these lessons are going to continue, I have to protect myself. And what we try to teach to you is that: No, you have an army of supporters on the other side who are there helping you, guiding you. And as long as you tap into that guidance and surrender into the unknown, you want the unknown, you don't want what's in your head. Then you can trust that you're in the flow with the universe and there is nothing to fear.

Hans:
No.

Alfred:
And once you let go of fear and once you trust that you're in the flow, you're going to feel phenomenal.

Hans:
Absolutely. Knowing in your heart, that a non-judgmental God and a non-judgmental Spirit has your back, knowing they have no judgment of you. Knowing that during this time of the year, they draw near to you to remind you how much they love you. And opening yourself up and saying: I know my god loves me. Talk to Spirit, talk to God about letting go of your fears. Remember your fears are not real friends. It's your mind chatter telling you of something that "could" happen. Alfred, I know you do a lot of work with people who have fear. How do you approach this issue?

Alfred:
Well, you can think about Bella and her playing with her toy for example... How's that squeaky toy Bella, is that good?

Hans:
She wants to be heard.

Alfred:
Bella, is that you telling us you're still there?

Hans:
She is, indeed.

Alfred:
Well, we'll have to take a picture of the Super Model and put her up for you. Sweetness... Sweetness, dad is on the radio right now.

Hans:
I hope all of you are grinning as much as I am. She's got her little squeaky rabbit and she's right next to him and she's trying to make a statement about “don't forget I'm here.”

Alfred:
She wants to play. She's nudging my hand. That's just comical. That should make you feel good...

Hans:
Now there's a joyous thing. See – she's in joy right now because you just threw the rabbit.

Alfred:
Yes. Where were we? Oh, have faith and fear. You have two choices. In general spirituality is the opposite of western training, that a lot of us paid a lot of money for is, you're in control. You get what you negotiate. It's up to you. You are the individual who's responsible. That is stressful. Lord knows a lot of us have been there. And we're trying to tell you: There's an option. There is an option to that stress and it's called Letting Go. Going with the flow, having faith, trust and belief in the universe, in your God, in your guidance. And basically what we say is: If you want to be happy, then have faith, believe, let go and you'll realize, I guess God really does want me to be happy. If you want to do the typical human western thing of "I'm in control, it's up to me," well, if you're wondering why you feel bad, that's the reason.

Hans:
You know Alfred, having faith, having a deep seeded faith, a quiet, gentle understanding that your life is unfolding as it should. Turning off that mind chatter that tries so desperately to disconnect you from your joy, from your peace, from your possibilities. And it works overtime. Having a quiet understanding: It is the way it is supposed to be. I am unfolding into my bounty of love, my abundance, I am unfolding into my god's arms. And having a quiet knowing of this and allowing yourself to just feel the bliss and the power of God around you every day. There's never a time my friends, when you're ever disconnected from God, never ever a time when you're disconnected from God.

Alfred:
And that's where we're heading you towards. Feeling happy. Feeling joyful. Feeling bliss. Feeling peace in your life. You don't have to search for those things. We just gave you a 1/2 hour of different ways to have those things in your life in a matter of minutes for no, if very little money. Okay? And that is the key. That is the key that we try to teach you in so many of our courses is to “feel.” To feel connected to the universe, to feel the vibration and energy of the universal energy. To feel as Obi-Wan Kenobi taught Luke Skywalker, to "Feel The Force."

Hans:
Yes.

Alfred:
Teachings of Joseph Campbell...

Hans:
As Bella's currently doing. She's feeling The Force.

Alfred:
Yes. Bella, are you feeling happy right now sweetness?

Hans:
Yes.

(Hans and Alfred chuckling in the background)

Alfred:
And that is what we're trying to get across to you today is, do things that make you feel good. Like Bella is playing with her squeaky toy...

Hans:
And it makes all of us smile. I mean you can't help it. She's in this wonderful, blissful little world where she has her little stuffed rabbit and she thinks this is the best thing that ever happened to her. She has her dad here. She loves Alfred like herself. They have this wonderful relationship. And she knows that he's there for her. She knows it. Just like you need to know God and Spirit are there for you always.

Alfred:
And one final thing is when you're doing these things that we're describing, whether you're simply out in nature, whether you're volunteering, whether you're being of service, or whether you're just simply believing and having faith, take a moment and feel the energy. Feel the bliss, feel the joy enter into your soul. Take a moment and feel it enter into your life. Just take a moment and let it sink in.

Hans:
Absolutely. That a wonderful subject. What a wonderful topic, "Recover Your Joy." And Alfred I believe that will conclude the lesson for today.

Alfred:
Hello everyone and welcome to MODERN DAY MYSTICISM being broadcast on The World Puja Network. Today's topic is: Soul Mate Family, Friends and Animals. And to discuss the infinite forms that soul mates come from, I present to you Hans Christian King.

Hans:
Good evening everyone. Welcome, welcome, welcome. We have a tendency to forget the value of the people who are presented to us for our lessons. Those come in many different kinds. They come in parents, lovers as friends, lovers as lovers. Even our little animal friends have agreed to come forward to help us to learn to love and to give unconditional love.

Most of the time we reincarnate with specific parents and soul mate friends because we find it easier to work with people that we've actually worked with and have known before. So what happens is that when we have that little rountable meeting that you've heard me discuss with you and someone who was your mother last time and you were the child says: Well, you know you didn't get the grasp of what I was doing, how about we reverse the roles? And you'll become the opposite of the last role that we had. And you'll say: Well why? And your Guides and Helpers say: Because you're looking at it from only one point of view. You see?

Let's take the lesson for all old souls - the lesson of self-esteem, for instance. We are presented with the lesson of self-esteem because as an old soul it is sort of in the end, it's sort of the last of the things that we have chosen to learn...not an easy subject, my friends. Not an easy subject. So we will have set in place a series of events that have a debilitating impact on the humanness of us. A parent may not ever say I love you. A parent may not be there. Just not show up or be working or gone all the time. A parent may not be able to see who you are to recognize the wonder of who you are and you're always searching, searching, searching, trying to get the parent to acknowledge the importance of you.

Why would we do that? Why would we put ourself in a situation where we couldn't be seen by the parents? We do so because our soul has chosen to arise above the appearance of humanness to be the essence of God in the form you are in at the moment in your evolutionary process. That just who you are...you've heard me say this forever now...just who you are is enough. Despite what a parent might say, or a boss might say, or anybody might say. So your job is to rise above that. And as much as you may love your parents, the fact that they can't get who you are is not your problem, it's their problem.

Now you've heard me say this many, many times and I know it always sounds like it's insulting, but it isn't. It is a truism: What someone thinks of you is none of your concern. What you think of what they think of you should be very much your concern. I have asked Alfred in the past to expound upon his parents, I have told all of you all of you what my situation was about a father who left when I was 4 or 5 years old and a mother who loved me, there was no doubt about that, had no idea who I was, absolutely no idea who I was. But that doesn't speak to the character of the person, it speaks to the pain of the child. The child doesn't know that it's set this lesson in place, and actually the parents don't know.

So one of the things that I say to parents these days: Take the time to find out who your child is. Not who you want the child to be. But who the child actually is. Because the child is the embodiment of the Godforce in human form. And attached to that form are a series of lessons that that child has chosen to learn. So it doesn't behoove you to be guilty because you might have said something, or might have done something. What you need to do to help the child advance is to recognize the child. Help the child become better than their current perception.

So we reincarnate with soul mate friends, soul mate lovers, soul mate animals,  based on what our soul has chosen to learn. You agreed in advance that your parents and friends would present karmic lessons to you. They don't know that, and you don't know that. But that's how it works. You can say to me: Oh Hansy, I would never have done that. I would never, ever have set that in motion. But you don't know that. You think you know that, but you don't. You don't know exactly what your lessons are. But if you watch yourself and you keep repeating the same lesson over and over and over...  Like how we choose our partners. If you find you're fishing in the same pond all the time, trying to get a different result, then you have a serious problem.

If you and your parents realize you and your children have karma with each other... Here we go again: You're not here by accident, you're in fact here by design...by design. So both parents and children have the same vested karmic interest in the lessons we have chosen to learn with each other. You see?

Now I know that my father loves me. And how do I know that? I know my father loves me because he came back to a very fine Medium one day in Asheville, North Carolina, and he said to me: Son, remember that your mother only has one side of the issue. There are in fact, two sides to the issue. And at that moment, I realized that my mother in her anger, her rage about my father, had started manufacturing things out of her subconscious mind that actually weren't true. So that helped to free me up to understand that my mother had a terrific lesson, I mean really a hard lesson, because she set that in motion and my father had agreed to do what he did, and I had agreed with my father that he would not show up in my life, and I had agreed that my mother would cause all this trouble... All that, you see...all that minutia made me who I am today.

So what you have to do is you have to look at where you came from, and if you're very clever, which you all are, you can watch the synchronicity as you move through your life. As a child you may have agreed to present your parents with lessons. I'm quite certain that I did. Both my parents. You did also. So as a child you have agreed to present your parents with lessons. And your parents have agreed to present you with lessons. As a parent, please look for ways that you might help your children along their path.

Alfred, I would like to bring you in here, and I'm going to just sit here, and I want you to tell the people how you navigated through that karmic situation with your parents.

Alfred:
Well that's a good one, Hans. That definitely is a, oh, I like to say a mind bender, when you start looking at karmic relationships from a human perspective because it's really difficult for the human mind to comprehend that children, for example, have a karmic obligation to present lessons to their parents. And that is really difficult to think: Okay, I can get the fact that as a child my parents have presented lessons to me, but at what point do I, as a child, turn around and present lessons to my parents, and what lessons are those things?

All of this, of course, is preordained, already agreed upon, and of course we have the wonderful part of nobody remembers anything that they agreed to. But it is part of the enlightenment process. It does become clearer the more spiritual you become, and it does help when you follow along your own path to really just go with the flow, not try to blame anyone, just simply say: I'm following a spiritual path and if my parents want to follow that path and they want to learn from it, great, if they don't want to learn from it, great. That's what I really got out of it.

Hans:
Was that difficult for you?

Alfred:
It was really difficult because you have to follow the lessons of having no expectations. And having no expectations of saving or helping your parents is extremely difficult. I think we get that issue in every single class we do.

Hans:
We do. It's just common.

Alfred:
When children wake up and they become spiritual and they become happy, they instinctively want to help their parents in the same way that they've been helped, and that's an investment, that's an expectation, and it's incredibly hard not to have an expectation that your parents are going to understand you, what you're doing, or that they're going to want what you have. However, it's you job to present what you're doing. It is not your job to have an expectation that they're going to learn from it.

Hans:
I have a question for you. I know how difficult your childhood was. In the process of coming out of the old awareness into the new awareness, what did you do with the anger?

Alfred:
That's part of the spiritual growth is as you let go of your past, of illusions, of opinions, the anger goes away instinctively. The anger is just a by-product of hanging onto the past. And once you let go of the past, the anger goes away. It's the same thing we used to say in the classes that: If you're standing in front of a fire, you can pour water over your head until kingdom come, and you're still going to be hot. What we say is: Pour water on the fire and then you won't be hot anymore.

Hans:
(Laughing) And then you'll be fine...exactly.

Alfred:
So you deal with the root cause of the symptom. The symptom is that you're angry. What is the root cause? My parents abused me. I'm an abused child. Well, I'm sorry those are past events. That's your opinion of a past event, and if you just let that go and live in the now, you won't be angry. And that's easier said than done.

Hans:
Well, I think for all of us, even for those of us who follow a spiritual path, I think it's still hard to deal with the inner child, and soothe that child. We might be able to rationalize, Alfred, that this is what we should do, and there's a reason for all of this. But there still is a little wounding in the child, no matter what happens. That's for you, for me, for just about anybody listening to the show tonight. You make the pain okay. It's okay. It's alright. And I know with you Alfred, if I say to you the plate is hot. What will you do?

Alfred:
I'm going to touch it.

Hans:
There you go. That's what I'm getting at.

Alfred:
I love that. It drives Hans crazy.

Hans:
(Laughing) It drives people in restaurants crazy that are trying to serve him. And they're saying: Hot plate! He'll pick it up anyway...

Alfred:
Well I've learned not to pick it up, I just touch it a little... Nothing like a little pain to wake you up.

Hans:
Oooohhhh!

Alfred:
Yes.

Hans:
You got it!

Alfred:
Yes.

Hans:
You see? Nothing like a little pain to wake you up.

Alfred:
And that's what we try to teach people is when you feel a symptom, look for the root cause of the symptom. It's not: Okay, I'm aggravated, let me go to the Gym. I'm aggravated, let me have a drink or do something else. I'm aggravated, let me do meditation. No. What we try to teach is that if you're aggravated, what is the button that somebody pushed that triggered that aggravation? Look at that root cause and I guarantee you it has nothing to do with being in the moment.

It's either: I'm frustrated, I'm not where I should be in the future, I'm aggravated because something happened...

Hans:
I don't have as much money as I thought was going to have...

Alfred:
I don't know what you're talking about...

Hans:
(Laughing) I know you well.

Alfred:
Yes. So it's looking for the root cause of the aggravation. Yes, you can do it in meditation. But it's getting at the root cause of it and a lot of what we're trying to explain in this soul mate topic has to do with a lot of the things that you have an opinion that are negative, or hurtful, or painful, really aren't. They're actually lessons that you requested people present you with.

Hans:
Yes. You hit upon that and I think it's really, really important. You simply can't blame others for your pain. We all want to do this. We all want to believe our parents did this to us, or our husband or our wife did that to us in the divorce... We all want to blame, blame, blame. But what we forget is - we set it in place.

The main lessons of this soul mate topic are, for instance, don't blame others for painful relationships. Know how much you love them. But also, how much you will not allow them to put guilt upon you. That's a very big lesson because that guilt is put there deliberately to demean you. It is put there deliberately to demean you because you chose for it to be put there. Your job is to turn to anybody who demeans you and say: Excuse me. That is only your interpretation of who I am. My interpretation tells me I'm wonderful and my God loves me. They have no comeback for that.

Be grateful, be grateful that you have had all these lessons come into your life because one day, one day when you make that transition...one day, as I like to say when you fall off your perch... One day you'll be able to look back with a bunch of friends and loved ones and see this last episode of your incarnation cycle and say: By golly, here's what I wanted to do and this is what I left having learned. And then your soul soars.

Sometimes I have to say to people very difficult things. I remember when Alfred was getting started, he just fought me tooth and nail, thinking he had the answer. And time after time after time, Spirit proved he did not. That is was nothing more than a lesson.

So what I want you all to hear is there is no way you should ever be so angry with anyone that you lose your self-awareness, that you lose your spiritual being. There should never be a time in your life when lessons are so strong that you want to give up. Because the truth of the matter is you put them in place. And the wonderful thing about it is once you really begin to understand: Oh, I see there's a continuity in what I'm doing, I keep repeating the the same things over and over again. Why are you doing that? What is going on for you that you continue to do this? Time in, time out, over and over and over. It is because you have not learned the lesson of the lesson. You have not gotten the value. But the moment you get the value, it's like this great weight is suddenly removed from you. Relax children. Soul mate friends, soul mate animals, are there for you to also have fun with, and provide unconditional love.

How many of you today emailed someone that you think may be feeling alone and wished them Happy Valentines Day? I did that this morning. I sent out Valentines to people I know happen to be by themselves right now. Think, everyone of you, send one person, even though it's late, send one person a Valentines Greeting. Just a kind word, that's all. And watch how much better you feel for doing that. It will help change your life.

Alright Alfred that concludes the lesson for this evening.
