Topic: Spirituality and Your Career
October 17, 2015

HANS:
Hi everybody. Today’s topic is “Spirituality and Your Career.” We get a lot of questions from folks about making a living, earning money, and doing something spiritual and following your Dharma, your path in life. What is your job search like when you are transitioning out of a job that earns you money into a job that earns you money and is spiritual? How do you do that?

Guidance says, you begin the journey - and the problem we have Alfred, for ourselves, is that people want to transition and they look at me, or they look at you, and they look back and say, “Well how did they get there?”  It was a process. I always had it. Alfred is still working on it but it’s not that a bolt of lightening strikes you one day and it says,  “Now you’re in !” That’s not the way it happens. What you want to do is talk to Spirit and say, “I’m setting my intention to manifest my work with Spirit.” What They’re going to do when you do that is very slowly - and it is always slowly - it’s very rare that you wake up one morning and say - I want to be in service - and boom - the door opens and here comes the Angels and the Man and say, “Oh congratulations! You’re now in service.”

You start with the single most important thing - the intention. That’s the key.

ALFRED:
Absolutely. It’s starting the energy. This is the biggest transition that people need to understand. When working with the other side it all starts with creating the energy of something to be manifested by creating an intention. It is supported by trust, faith and belief in what you are asking the other side for is actually going to happen. That sends re-enforcement energy, re-enforcement vibrations, that the other side is actually going to follow through with that.

The other side basically answers your question immediately. However, as we know, on the physical side things take a little bit longer, which is why the faith, trust, and belief come in. But again, it all starts with changing your intention, changing your vibration, changing your approach as to how you go about looking for a job or a career or working with the other side.

HANS:
What Spirit says all the time is that you must operate from the awareness that it already is. Let’s say you’re working at a computer company and you’re doing data and all that, all very honorable, and you say, “You know Hans, I really want to be in service.” Okay, from that day forward, when you set your intention, you already are - then you must become the service by no longer wanting it. By accepting that it is so. “Today, I’m in service. I thank Spirit for the opportunity and for supporting me in my intention.” And then, as time goes by, it could be a month, it could be a year,  it could be a year and a half, but as time goes by, doors begin to open where previously there were no doors on the issue of service.

ALFRED:
And there’s a lot of choices to deal with. It’s not always crystal clear such as: I give up my job search to the other side.

The other questions we got in were how do you choose between a paying job, whether you like it or don’t like it, or doing something entrepreneurial? Being in service on your own with your own business?

HANS:
One thing you want to do always, is be grateful for what you have now. That’s one of the keys is that when you’re grateful for where you’re at — see, you forget that you’re where you used to pray to be. So, you’re there now, now what the heck do you do? So, it’s really important that we understand in the moment, “I’m here because I’m building a platform for my tomorrows and this is important, this is a springboard from my yesterdays to my new beginnings.” So, where you are at the moment, no matter what job you may have - it is a foundation or a bridge between what was and where you’re going to be.

ALFRED:
So, how do you decide? How do you know if it’s a bridge? You feel it. You go to a peaceful place and you feel. “Is this where I’m supposed to go? Is this where the flow is? Is this where the other side is leading me?” One of the basic things we teach in Intuitive Development is what is a yes and no answer?

A yes answer is a calm, high, faint, supportive energy that says - yes, this is for you. Quite simply, you put up to the other side the question, “Is this where I’m supposed to go?” And you wait for a response. It usually comes in an energetic and vibrational form. If it is not for you and you’re not supposed to go in that direction, you’ll get a heavy, deep, sometimes stressful vibration. If you have that type of feeling, that is a no answer, but you have to ask one at a time.

We got a question in from somebody who asked if they should take a job that was just offered to them or should they continue working on building their own business.

HANS:
Take the job that’s being offered in the awareness it’s being offered to get them safely and financially secure into their new beginnings. So many people think, “Oh, I set my intention because Hansie told me to and I’m just going to leave my job and I’m going to go out and there I’ll be.” No. Spirit is aware of what it costs to live in this world. But when you say to Spirit, “I now set my intention to have the following experience, I now set my intention to be in service. I thank you for the position I have now, because I know it’s part of the transition to my new beginning…”

Then you stop suffering what’s about to come up job-wise or what you already currently have.

ALFRED:
And again, a lot of times it can be confusing. Why is it that Spirit is interrupting my momentum? You don’t know if it’s a door behind a door. You don’t know if They’re going to be using that to leap-frog you. You don’t know what the other side is co-ordinating. Your job is to feel, to say, “Does this really feel good to me?”

HANS:
You know, a lot of times we talk about synchronicity. Spirit will open a door, and you’ll stand there scratching your head. “This is not what I asked for! This is not what I was hoping I was going to get.” What you don’t see, in the beginning, is the last domino follows the first domino. So the last domino couldn’t fall over without the first domino. Nor could the middle, nor could the second, nor could the fifteenth. So they’re all linked together.

ALFRED:
And that’s the way the other side works. They are constantly changing - life is constantly changing. Opportunities are constantly changing. Nothing is ever set in stone. That is why you have the term - go with the flow - because the energy may change. Somebody who was supposed to do something decided not to - your job is to feel the energy of the opportunity to make sure it’s not your mind playing games with you. To make sure your human-ness doesn’t get involved in the decision whether you should be an entrepreneur, stay at your current job, take a job offer that’s given to you. Follow the teachings the we have in the Intuitive Development Class in order to work with your Guidance, to hear them, okay?

HANS:
The key to everything is belief. It is knowing. I talked with a lovely lady today and she wants so much to be in Spirit, but she keeps saying, “I want to, I want to,” instead of saying, “I am, and this is a place on my spiritual journey and it’s perfect in it’s moment and concept.” See what I’m saying, folks? It’s already perfect. Just the way it is, is perfect. And when you begin to operate out of the awareness that everything is perfect - yes, your human-ness is going to get involved - get used to it.

Get used to it, because remember what we always teach - we are just these little angels having a human experience. Therefore, we’re susceptible to human frailties.

I’m not going to sit here today and tell you there aren’t times in my life I wish things might have been different as far as my mind chatter works, but then I’ll tell you almost always, it turns out, “Oh, that is why I didn’t get that! Okay? That is what happened.”

ALFRED:
Someone asked - How do you get guidance from Spirit about what direction you’re supposed to go in?

HANS:
My suggestion is you listen to the Intuitive Development Class wherein we teach you about your biggest nemesis called mind chatter. It’s your mind chatter that’s talking to you. It’s mind chatter that interferes with what we are trying to accomplish. Remember that with Spirit everything simply is. That’s the key. Everything simply is. And when you get that, when you know that, when you hear that, everything comes to that place. Alright?

ALFRED:
So basically your job is to be in the moment, focused on the moment, being as spiritual as you possibly can…

HANS:
… with no expectations.

ALFRED:
With no expectations about what’s going to happen in the future. By being in the moment, it’s one of the practices of letting go of the mind chatter in order to be much more connected. If you start worrying about or thinking about, “What’s going to happen to me? What am I supposed to do?” Then you’re inviting ego, which separates you from that which you’re trying to accomplish. Instead, by simply being spiritual, being peaceful, happy, grateful, in the moment, you’re more able to determine where am I supposed to go, what am I supposed to do, in the moment.

HANS:
Remember always children, the old adage, that expectations are limitations. Everything that you wish to accomplish, if you can feel it in your heart, the Guidance will take you to the possibility for the opportunity. Always.

Okay. That concludes the lessons for today.

HANS:
Hello everybody. What a beautiful day! Glad to have you all with us today. And I want to thank everybody for the wonderful emails you've been sending in about how our teachings have helped you to restructure your life to move you into new places of joy and happiness that you didn't know were available. Today's topic is "Gratefulness."

I want to give you a little story today. Many years ago... probably 8 or 9 years ago, I had done a product for Nightingale-Conant called "Stop Searching and Start Living." And after the contract has expired and all that, Alfred thought of what we might be able to do with it. And he said, you know there's a book in this. And so for almost 5 years, on and off, we worked on the book. Alfred actually worked on the book. And he took the talkings and put them into writings... which is very difficult to do folks, believe it or not. And he worked on this over and over and over again. And we hired editors who had no idea... They were spiritual people but they tended to write me out of my own book and it became very painful... and frankly, we gave up for awhile and then we started up again.

All the time "knowing" that somewhere in time was a place for that book and the decades of teachings that I've been blessed to give out. Whenever I would lose track of it, Alfred would reinforce it. Whenever he would lose track of it, I would reinforce it to him. And so it's been a long, long journey. The reason that today we're speaking about "Gratefulness"... If you ever notice how Spirit works on your behalf... you keep looking and looking and searching and looking when it's right underneath your nose. And it's called "Faith." Faith's best friend is Trust. Trust has a "quiet knowing" that everything is as it should be.

Now to be very honest with all of you, I had reached a point with the book where I was tired of excusing it away. Why didn't anybody come forward? Why would the people that we hired that charged money and all that just take the money and do absolutely nothing? What was all of that about? And so it was hard, as time went by, to keep the hope up in that. But we did it nonetheless. As time went by, we were given an opportunity, through a friend of ours, to speak with someone who changed the direction and the course of the book. It's an editor. She could see and hear what we were attempting, and certainly what I was attempting before Alfred came on the scene, to say and to do.

And I was looking for a manual... a how to book in spirituality and mediumship. And just nobody could see it. But she could. And so for over a year, she and Alfred and myself have been working together to create the outlines and to write the chapters... rewrite all the chapters... well the chapters that we had already written anyway. And we were led to meet two people. And those two people are some of the nicest human beings I have ever met in my entire life. They told someone at a major publishing house about me and that person said: Oh, I know about Hans, I know about Hans. We'd like to publish his book. Site unseen as I said that. And today, after a meeting on Sunday last, they sent us an email agreeing to everything that we would like to see happen with the book.

And I called for Alfred to come and read the email with us and it's a firm offer. And I thought: Everything that we had talked about... about what we would like to do with the book is in the offer. Every single thing we could have ever dreamed for or asked for is in the offer. So I'm proud to announce that Simon & Schuster will be publishing my new and first book within the next year. So to all of you I thank you for the wonderful work that you let me do with you. And I look forward to going into the future. This book... We're already looking at another book. We already have a title for that one. So I thank you all and Alfred, how do you feel about this?

ALFRED:
Well one of the reasons we're bringing this topic up under the subject of "Gratefulness" is we literally have been working on this book for 9 years... 9 years. And that has been a really long time. And that is really where Faith and Belief come in to play is to be grateful for the way things are, to be grateful for what you have, to be grateful for the unknown, to be grateful for knowing that the Other Side is working on your behalf, to be grateful by letting go of expectations, by being grateful for letting go of the way you need things to be, to be grateful of the need to know when and how something is going to unfold. That is just "is."

And that's why we're bring up this topic is because Hans and I have dedicated ourselves to being of service. It's been a very long road. We've put an enormous amount of work into it. We just continued to have Faith and Trust in the Universe that this was going to unfold as it was going to unfold, when and how it was going to. And it is incredibly difficult to be grateful for what is in front of you and to release what is coming at you.

HANS:
Yeah. And I'm not going to say for one minute that Alfred and I didn't have to practice our teachings folks. Because we did. And there were moments of disappointment... phone calls that were missed or never arrived. But when something is supposed to be, it simply happens. So what I am the most grateful for is first of all for my Guidance, for Spirit, for God. But I'm grateful for Alfred, I'm grateful for Anita, I'm grateful for John and Rikka... I'm grateful for all the people who came into my life to make this possible. I'm very grateful for Nancy and she knows why. I'm grateful that I have this chance, at my age, to do something that my father made me promise I would do and I'm happy to do that.

But I do want, Alfred, I do want people to know that there was a little struggle every once in awhile.

ALFRED:
Yes. And that's probably the second part of why we decided to choose this topic is anyone, anyone who is in human form will find this a challenge. One of the examples when we start teaching spirituality in business is: Okay. Everybody understands the difference between your glass is half full, your glass is half empty. Well can you be grateful when life is so burdensome and difficult that you think you could be grateful when your glass is 20% full, when your glass is 10% full? Can you be grateful when your glass is 1% full? And that's when...

HANS:
That's a key thing you just said. Gratefulness all the way along. Even if it's just 1%.

ALFRED:
To realize that to transcend this lesson you really need to realize that it's not about the glass, it's not about what you have. It's about who you are and being of service and continuing to be of service. In order to transcend the lesson of your glass is half full, your glass is half empty, you have to realize it doesn't matter what's in the glass. What really matters is your "intent" to be of service and whatever it looks like really doesn't matter. That's not up to you what it looks like.

HANS:
That's nicely put. No, it isn't up to you what it looks like. It's up to you knowing what is best, that Spirit knows what is best for you and for your dharma. Alfred and I have been reminded by one of our members that this show is nearly 5 years old. Now folks, in my wildest imaginings I never would have believed I would have had this little radio show for 5 years. It just didn't come into my consciousness.

So I'm grateful for all of you who help me and remind me of who I am and what it is that I do. By putting your trust and faith in Alfred and I with your very, very personal issues, with your spiritual issues, with your spiritual growth, we are enormously grateful.

Alright Alfred where would you like to now go with this morning? Because this news was important for us to get out and I wanted to do that... let you all know what's going on. We are also leaving, by the way, tomorrow for Asheville. So we will be back there in about a week. We are driving with Bella. Luckily this time I don't have to drive myself out. Alfred's coming with me, we'll share the driving. So again for those of you along Highway 10 if you see us go by, wave. We'll wave back.

ALFRED:
Well I think that's basically it. A lot of times... or should I say a good part of the radio show, we really focus on the basics. And what we're trying to tell you here is an advanced lesson. That the basics would be your glass is half full and to be grateful your glass is half full instead of focusing on your glass is half empty. Okay? That's a very basic spiritual principle.

And what we're trying to tell you here... what we've been living through the past 9 years kicking and screaming the entire way is overcoming the lesson,  transcending the lesson, transcending the lesson that you need "anything" in order to be happy. Transcending the lesson that you need "anything" to be of service. Because it is not what you have that enables your happiness. It is not what you have that enables your ability to be of service. It is simply what is "inside" of you that determines your service, your clarity, your ability to work with the Other Side, your happiness, your bliss, your joy.

We have mentioned many times that happiness and bliss come from the simplest of things. The things that cost no money or maybe $1 to feed bread to ducks...

HANS:
Exactly.

ALFRED:
So in this lesson that we're passing on to you is even in the most difficult times, consider transcending the lesson that anything that is happening external to you is an illusion to let go of. There's no reason to judge it, there's no reason to perceive it, there's no reason to have an expectation. Those are all "human." Simply let go, have “faith.” Be grateful for the happiness you have inside. Be grateful for the ability to have this incarnation. Be grateful that the Other Side is working on your behalf in order to transcend the lesson that anything outside of you, including how much is in your glass, really doesn't matter. It's simply a distraction.

HANS:
I think, Alfred, that will conclude the show for today.

Topic:  How To Find Your Life Mission
January 16, 2015

Hans:
Hello everyone. So nice to be back with you today. It's an interesting topic "How to Find Your Life's Mission." You know if you can remember back to when you were a very young child... if you found yourself, for instance, being drawn to coloring airplanes, or mechanical things – I had tinker toys and wanted to put things together, intricate things together. If your parents are wise they kind of know what direction they may want to bring to you. If you find yourself wanting to do something for someone else, a neighbor, go help the little lady across the street who's a widow, just wanting to give and help people and it just comes really natural to you, that's a sure sign that you're going to be in service in this lifetime. Some people have multi-talents, Alfred, and they may head down one road and experience that but that door often leads to another door. Now you remember that don't you?

Alfred:
Absolutely, Hans.

Hans:
Did you find that when you were going down the one road... Did you find that you felt when you were doing that that's where you needed to be at that moment or did you feel you were doing that but there was something else gnawing at you?

Alfred:
No. I knew that's what I was supposed to be doing at that time in my life. There was just some reason, which I didn't understand, that drove me to go in certain directions and do certain things and leave opportunities that people couldn't understand in order to go in a direction that even I couldn't understand.

Hans:
This is often the case and what I try to help people to understand is throughout life Spirit presents us with what I call "Doors of Opportunities" and they'll... You know you say: Well, I want the experience of this. And now their job is to help you to do that but they also see the larger picture and they know there's another thing that your soul wanted to experience so they put in the one but they leave this little second door, sort of always there, sort of almost like gnawing at you just a little bit, like I wish I had a look at this. And eventually that interest, that bit of intrigue on that grows to a point where you actually say: You know, I wonder if I should do that? And I always say to people: Follow your impressions. They are given to you by your Guides, they are given to you by the God-force. Follow your impressions. Because when you simply deal with the mind and the mind chatter and all that goes along with that, you immediately are in limitation. You know, I know people who are so invested in the way something needs to be and maybe they've gathered around them a group of friends who also agree this is the way this needs to be, this is what's supposed to be. But that can't affix a change for some reason. The reason is that they're not supposed to make that change. They are to use that as a vehicle to change themselves. That's what people don't want to deal with, is they have a problem, I find Alfred, in seeing past their limitations. Have you found this to be true?

Alfred:
And that's part of the hard part... is to just begin with the simple understanding that Spirit is there to guide you to a career, a job, a place, to people that you asked to experience before you were born. See all of those reasons "why" you wanted to experience those things were based upon karma, dharma, previous lifetimes, where you are in your soul's growth. Then you come down here and you get bombarded by media, friends, pressure, and sometimes the two just don't match. So Spirit is guiding you in one direction saying you asked us to point you in this direction, thus we're giving you this little feeling that you should do that. And all of these other social pressures, family pressures, are taking you in a different direction. And what we're trying to tell you is if you want to begin finding your path in life, you need to start looking within, feeling within, connecting to Guidance, to find why you're here.

Hans:
You know Alfred, sometimes when we don't feel that we fit or we don't feel we're being recognized by family, or by work, or friends, we have a tendency to blame the situation rather than look at ourselves. And so we find ourself saying: Well, this person doesn't understand me, and this group should be doing this, and this organization needs to change... And we find ourselves blaming others for refusing to deal with the self in the situation. Rather than say you know this situation doesn't suit me or this situation doesn't serve me. What we tend to do is then become victims of this situation, throwing our life's lesson right to the wind.  And we are bigger, we are better than that situation. That situation is not who we are. But we begin to continue to sever... and we build an entire identity around the suffering of the situation. That can be a relationship, Alfred, it could be work, it could be any number of things. But once we slip into that self victimization role, it takes a very long time to get out of it. Don't you find that's true?

Alfred:
And that's a lot of the teachings that we go over is you have a choice and we're explaining to you what that major choice is. The choice is to follow human thought, what human's think is important, what is important or perceived to be important in the physical world or you can follow these teachings to guide you what is important spiritually speaking. Now of course the issue is is because we're in the physical world, the physical aspects of image, ego, money, family, media, that seems really relevant. It's there. It seems like it's real.

Hans:
Yeah. Those are the key word there Alfred – seems like it's real.

Alfred:
And what we're trying to tell you do is see past the illusion. That's why you're here. I think in every major religion they talk about "overcoming." Well, they all define it differently. Our definition of "overcoming" is - see past the illusion, overcome the illusion. Practice being and connecting to Spirit to find your life's mission.

Hans:
Excellent. You know Alfred, I had a client any number of years ago who was like number 3, number 4, in a very large corporation and this individual had worked themselves up from a sales clerk ,as a matter of fact ,clear up to the top and he just couldn't get over the next hurdle. Years went by. They didn't affix the changes that he wanted, they continually bypassed him for promotions, and he began to become a victim of the situation and he kept saying I don't understand why they won't do the things that I know are best for them. And finally one day Spirit said to him: What makes you think they're supposed to? Oh, and then he gave us this litany of reasons why they're supposed to. And then Spirit says: What makes you think that you're supposed to be there anymore? Well, it's my job, this is all I know, this is what I worked for. And they said: No, this is what you've done so far. There's much more for you to do. And he absolutely refused to believe it. And a year went by, and another year went by and Spirit said the same thing each time he came to visit. So finally one day he said I've decided to take a package that's been offered to me by the company. The day he took that package he said, Alfred, it was like someone took a huge weight off his shoulders. Within 3 months, a smaller, fairly established start-up company hired him, heard about him, hired him, for more money than he was making before, with terrific stock options and he's now number 2 in the company and working towards the chairmanship.

Alfred:
And that's a really difficult story. So let me try to explain that because I came from...

Hans:
You lived that I know. (Hans laughing)

Alfred:
... one of those corporate backgrounds. But it applies to everyone. We want to find out what "is" our life mission? But that's not the way the Other Side works.

Hans:
No.

Alfred:
And Hans taught me this very early to say... because I asked the same question for a couple years and every time Hans gave me the same answer. If you knew your life's mission, you would change it.

Hans:
Yes.

Alfred:
Because you're addressing it from a human perspective. The Other Side is not going to give you your life's mission until you are a spiritual being functioning as Spirit, being as Spirit, and then you won't have any judgment and opinion from a human perspective to change your life's mission. In other words, by the far majority of the people who are listening to this, you're not going to get your life's mission, you're going to get what is the next step...

Hans:
For you on your growth.

Alfred:
... on your life path. Okay?

Hans:
That's correct.

Alfred:
So if you're looking for your life path, like this guy, it's what is the step in front of me. And then once you take that step, the next step will appear and that is how you find your life mission. By far, for the majority of us is if you're looking for your life path – okay, like every other spiritual lesson – look in the now. What is the lesson that is directly in front of you?

Hans:
Exactly Alfred.

Alfred:
And that is your path - what is directly in front of you in the moment.

Hans:
You know, I'm reminded Alfred, that sometimes we keep fishing in the same pond for a fish that doesn't exist in that pond. But by golly we're going to make certain that it appears so we keep fishing in it. And that's what people do with relationships, it's what they do with their employment, it's what they do with their friends. If something, kids, isn't working for you, it isn't for you. There are other options, even though your mind chatter may tell you oh no, there isn't, even if your friends say oh no you can't leave this job, oh no, if you leave this job you're done for. No. Because one day that same job that gave you your identity will be taken away from you whether you like it or you don't like it you're out the door. So all the time that you spent wanting to have this thing show up in your expectations was for absolutely no reason whatsoever. The ego then becomes in involved.

Alfred:
Yeah, and that's something you need to look at. If you keep trying something and it doesn't work, you keep trying something and it doesn't work, you keep trying something and it doesn't work... You have all these friends that keep doing the exact same thing, the lesson keeps getting presented to you over and over and over again. Take a look at it.

Hans:
Yeah. You know there's a saying Alfred that's out there today and I don't know why but it just cracks me up. But so many times in my career I've had to say to someone who is insisting that my teachings don't work for them, or this will never work, or this is too simplistic, or they need to have this change. And then I'll say: Okay, well how's that working for you? Are you winning that battle? Are you getting your point across? Are you affixing the changes you're trying to do? How's it working for you? And most of the time, Alfred, they will say: It's not. And Spirit will say: Then why do you keep trying it? Because I know, they say, that's where I'm supposed to be. You see? So that is their ego taking over responsibility for their life. If you are in a job and that job doesn't work for you, just simply doesn't work... you're not promoted when you should be, you don't get the respect from your peers, from the people at the top, if that isn't working for you, somebody tell me why in the world are you in that job? Why are you doing that to yourself?

Alfred:
And that's the hard one to understand is we're taught to push, to work through the stress...

Hans:
Right.

Alfred:
... to work through being tired.

Hans:
Well, you were taught that. And that's for sure.

Alfred:
Yes, yes. I had it drilled into me. What we're saying, spiritually speaking, that's human. And it's a choice whether to live your life according to human ways or if you want to find the reason you were born, to look at it from a spiritual perspective. If it's not working, then you're off your path.

Hans:
You're off your path. And if you're suffering in your work...

Alfred:
Then you're addressing it from human values, human thought, ego.

Hans:
Right:

Alfred:
If you're following our teachings, you'll understand – there is no suffering. That's a choice.

Hans:
That is a choice. You know Alfred, that's interesting you bring that up. A lot of times I have found that people feel that they're spiritual. People feel that they have the answer; they've grown spiritually. If you are suffering in any element, whether it's your work, a friendship, a job, you are not developed spiritually – period. No matter what you say to yourself, no matter how many lies you tell yourself, you are not. Because a true spiritual being knows there is nothing wrong – period. Nothing. So for all of you who are unhappy in the circumstances in your life, what a blessing. It is announcing to you it doesn't work, time to let go of your perceptions and open yourself up to that true spiritual nature of who you are and your life at that point will really begin to change. Alright, well that concludes the lesson for today.

Life changing lessons in a little hour package.

Here on GUIDANCE FOR YOUR LIFE we do our best to guide your soul to the best life it could possibly have. So for our topic today: The Hero's Journey. Without further ado, I present to you the Modern Day Mystic himself Hans Christian King.

Hans:
You want to think sometimes about heroes, explorers if you will. People who were willing to exit the journey they were on and begin to perhaps look around.  You know, the easiest thing for us all to do is to continue to paddle downstream because it's the path of least resistance. But every once in awhile, every once in awhile, we glance over to our left, or we glance over to our right. Oh look at that beautiful meadow...oh look, there's a tributary to this stream...I wonder what's up there... But that's all the further it gets. Because the path that you're on is the simplest. It presents itself as a no-brainier. It says if you do this, thus, and such, here is the result. But the result is always the same. It brings you to a place of not being fulfilled.

Great explorers got off the main stream but their canoes on their backs, like the Indians did, and went off on these different tributaries searching for another way, looking for something different, something maybe stimulating. Such is life. As humans we have been taught that the path most frequented is the right path for everyone. But if everyone did that path and everyone stayed on that path, absolutely nothing would have been discovered. There would be no Internet, there would be no Television, there would be no Airplanes. Everybody would have said: No, that can't be done. Just follow this path here, it will take you to where you need to be.

So a hero to me is somebody who says: Well, I thank you for your opinion but I'm really feeling like I want to look over here, perhaps at that meadow, or look over here perhaps at that other stream just to see where it takes me. And then society says: Aah, but wait a minute. If you go down that path you could fail. And you can say: Yes, what you're saying is true, but what is failure? Because another path, or another solution will present itself. So a hero is somebody who says: I will find another way for my life.

Alfred, you're a younger person, what say you on this subject?

Alfred:
And a lot of our clients, and also in my own life, there's something inside of us that helps us, tries to guide us, direct us towards that which would bring us meaning, that which is part of our life's dharma, our life's path. And a lot of the part of The Hero's Journey that we've been hearing about from our clients is the courage it takes to follow a voice inside of you that you can barely identify with. What do you tell clients Hans when they say they feel they should do something and they need courage to take that step towards that bumpy road?

Hans:
What I like to remind them of Alfred, is that in my 60 years of service, I have yet to know anyone to jump off the cliff that the net did not appear. Always. When you feel you need to make a right or a left or jump off the cliff, the Spirit has your back. Because what you're saying when you say: I'm going to jump. I'm going to create something new. You're saying: I believe. I trust that there must be something better than what I'm doing. And of course always, as all of you know, the enemy in all of this is the negative mind chatter. You'll notice that the mind chatter doesn't normally support you in your decision. It sends up all kinds of fears and doubts. It says: Oh my gosh, what if, what if this, what if that...what if, what if - who cares? For every what if, a solution will appear. Always. For every what if, a solution will always appear.

There are no endings. There are no beginnings. There simply is, in and of the moment. So when you trust to take another path... I had a lovely lady the other day and she said to me: You know Hans, I have been a school principal now for 25 years. And she said: Although I love working with my students and my faculty...the staff, she said: It just isn't me. And I said to her: Well Mary, what is you? She said: Well, I did the mirror exercise like you asked me to do and I told myself I was going to find out who I was and when I did I was going to take very good care of me. And I decided I'd always wanted to go to Greece but I never could put that together. And she said: So, I did some checking around and I found several schools. And I applied for it and she said I got a job in Athens. And she said: I'm going there in a couple of weeks to start a brand new life. She says: But when I did that, all I could hear, Hans, is you saying: And the net will always appear. She said: When I made that decision, all these different doors that I had never seen suddenly appeared. And that's the courage in the hero is the "quiet knowing". I believe, I know, I understand, I am protected.

Alfred:
And that's what we're trying to tell you is if you're looking for what would make your life memorable, is to have faith, is to trust that voice inside of you. You may not hear it loudly, you may not hear it clearly, but it will point you in a direction you may not even understand. And hopefully you'll be able to differentiate what that voice inside of you is saying, what your Guidance is saying, what your soul is saying, and hear it differently from what your mind is telling you. And that's a lot of what we try to help you with is to help you get in touch with your inner-self, your higher-self, your true-self, your soul, your Guidance, to follow that inner voice towards meaning.

Hans:
You know folks, I'm rather blunt as many of you know, but one of the things that I say to people that sort of sets them back... They will say: Well Hans what I want to do... And I say: Wait a minute, hold on. I'm not interested in what you want to do. And they look at me. I said: Tell me what you're going to do. Now folks, there's a hero there. Don't tell me what you want to do. Because when you tell me what you want to do you come from a place of lack and the energy that supports that is an energy of lack, an energy of scarcity. When you say to me: Hans, I'm going to do the following... You can add: I don't know how, but I know that my Guides, I know that my God will present me with the possibility. And folks, every time it happens. And there are times, for all of us, when we ask Spirit for something and we're willing to go down that road but we're slightly in front of the timing. I could name some people right now in our wonderful audience who sometimes jump the gun and then they wonder why the Spirit didn't support them, but they don't know the Spirit hasn't supported them because they don't know when the timing for it is. A hero is somebody who follows an idea and sees it through to the completion. And for all of you, you can be the hero in your own life.

Alfred:
That's a really good point. Two things here that those of you who are looking for meaning should pay attention to. When something just pops out of you. When there's a deep desire to do something and you wonder where it came from... I'll reflect upon my own life. For example, I'm 15 years old living in a group home, which basically is an orphanage, and I looked at the counselor one day and she asked me: So, what are you going to do when you get out of here? I said: Oh, I'm going to go to college and travel around the world. And she just looks at me and says: You're in a group home. And I said: I don't care. I'm going to travel around the world and go to college and that's what I'm going to do. And I looked at her and I sort of looked at me and said: Where did that come from? Anyway, when those little Aha moments happen about what you're going to do and you have no idea where it came from - pay attention. Okay?

Hans:
Absolutely. That's the key. Pay attention.

Alfred:
Pay attention. So that's the first thing. The second thing is, as you said, you may be a little bit ahead of your time. Well eventually I graduated college and I went looking for that international job. Well I was still ahead of my time. Six years later...six years...I knew it was going to happen, I just had patience. Six years later I landed a job that allowed me to work in 18 countries. I just knew it was going to happen. And it's to have faith and trust in that inner knowing.

Hans:
Now hold on for just a moment. Exactly what you're saying - to have faith and trust - and Alfred you made it okay not to know how it arrives. I think that was one of your keys is not knowing how it arrives...

Alfred:
Absolutely...

Hans:
...but knowing it will arrive.

Alfred:
...is just keep knocking on doors, keep looking at doors. But one thing that we teach, especially in Intuitive Development, is don't have an expectation of how it's going to arrive, be peaceful, be aware of vibration and energy.

Hans:
That is such a key, Alfred. Because people...when it doesn't show up immediately, they start to run their crazies, they get depressed, they say God doesn't love me, or I guess my dream can't come true. It's the patience, don't you think?

Alfred:
Absolutely. Patience and not having an expectation of how it's going to happen. So many times people say: Well, when I get money then I'll do this. Well, no because sometimes, for example, somebody has a spare ticket, somebody has a spare seat, somebody has a spare car... Remember that? A friend of ours didn't have a car and he was asking for money and you said: No, you don't need money to have a car. And he looked at you and said you were crazy. And what was it a couple of weeks later that somebody said I have a spare car sitting in my driveway, why don't you use it.

Hans:
That's right.

Alfred:
So make sure when you're looking to do something, do not place an expectation as to "how"...

Hans:
Well Alfred that also happened to you. Remember?

Alfred:
In what?

Hans:
In a car. Didn't someone...

Alfred:
Oh, that. Yes! Yeah, I donated my car to some Breast Cancer place and all of a sudden something told me: Don't look for a car; it'll eventually show up. And I said: Really? Well, okay. Well I had a motorcycle...I was driving a motorcycle back and forth to work. It was Southern California so you didn't have to worry about rain. A week later somebody shows up, to make a long story short, had lunch with somebody I hadn't seen in 10 years and he said: Oh, we're moving to Florida and we have a car and we'd be willing to give it to you at a very cheap price if you just wait a couple of more days until we leave and then come and pick it up. Low and behold, it was the car I had been dreaming about for 3 years. The exact car. I was so happy I could not believe it, but I believed that the thing inside of me that told me just be patient, it will arrive.

Hans:
I can hear people saying: Well it happened for Alfred, but those things never happen for me. That thinking will not help you. Alfred didn't know when the car would show up. He didn't know that anybody would be giving him one for a very small price. But he knew inside of him, he knew that if he just held tight, it would arrive at his doorstep.  And folks, this is a key belief you must work on. A quiet knowing. When you prepare yourself as your own personal hero to make a change, to jump off a cliff if you will, having this little inner-awareness that says: I'm fine, I'm loved, and God has my back and Spirit is my navigator. When you do that, it doesn't matter whether it shows up immediately in your expectations.
What matters is that Spirit sees a belief. Energy follows thought. They look at your dharma and say: Okay, they want to go over here but they did ask us to help with this other thing here, there. Okay. And then we can get them to where they need to go.

For so many of you older souls, which most of the people who listen to the show and are members of this show are what I call an older soul. They're seekers. And I like to say the good book says: A seeker findeth always. When you have this quiet awareness and you believe that, doors will appear children where there previously were no doors. I forget who said that, but it's absolutely spiritual principle. Now I can remember when Alfred first came to see me in Los Angeles for his reading at the recommendation of a lady friend of his. And he had this intense need to be a seeker. He was dabbling in this thing that was pretty good and Reiki that was pretty good. He was looking around. And at that moment he knew he found what he needed to hear. And he changed his life. Now Alfred, have you noticed that when heroes tend to change their life other people around them think they're a little crazy?

Alfred:
Yes. (Laughing)

Hans:
Did that apply to you too? (Laughing)

Alfred:
And that is part of the hero's journey. It's not just that you're a hero - doing something that scares you. Listening to this inner voice you may not completely understand, it's that you're going to have peer pressure going against you, you're going to have the media going against you, you may have your closest friends sitting you down and having an intervention saying don't do this. I had a few of those.

Hans:
Who even said I can't be your friend if you go down this path. Alright?

Alfred:
And that was where it really takes a hero's courage. Now, is there anything wrong? No. And that's where you really have to understand that in spiritual growth, you may be going down a path that others that you've been with for many, many years, or are very close to, won't go down. And that is a hero's journey is to go down a path and leave those people you've called friends behind. Now again there's nothing wrong with where they are...you were there.

Hans:
No. Not at all. And I think that's a very key element right there. Because they can't see your road doesn't make them bad people. At the moment they can't see it. But ofttimes, they circle back and see you in your happiness in your new path and say: Wow, congratulations. Job well done.

Alfred:
Sometimes. And there's other people that they continue doing what they're doing but...

Hans:
But that's where they need to be.

Alfred:
...and Hans has told me many, many times: Ask Spirit to give you people, new friends, of like vibration. Like vibration, like spiritual type of friends that are according to your path. And yes, they do eventually show up. You do eventually get new friends that are of like mind.

Hans:
Some of my dearest friends, throughout my life, have actually been people who don't know how to believe in what I do. But loved me, and supported me, hands down. Because they saw the belief in me that I held and then saw how other people were moved and effected. And even though they didn't know what it is exactly I did, most of all these people were extremely well educated and so to venture outside of the norm was stuff you hid. You hid it under the table. You went to see a lecture but you never told anybody you were going. That type of thing. But those people need to be where they were. Most of those people have now passed over and they're a great help to me as I move down my path.

If I had listened to every person, every doctor, who told me this would happen, that would happen, something else would happen...I was born with all these different illness and all...I would never have made it if I had listened. I heard them talking but I didn't listen to what they said. Big difference. Okay? So be the hero  in your life and Spirit will always present the net when you jump. Always. No one is excluded from that truth. Okay, Alfred I think that will conclude the lesson for today.
