Topic: Seeing Past the Illusion
September 26, 2015

HANS:
Hi everyone. Welcome on this beautiful day, and it is truly a beautiful day today. Today’s topic is “Seeing Past the Illusion.” I want to talk a little bit about something that all of us have been dealing with for a long time. One of the lessons that my Guidance has always taught me was seeing past the illusion, that we have a tendency in our life to become what we need to see. Isn’t that strange? We become what we need to see. Well, the old adage is, “You see what you look for, you know.” Now, most people don’t realize that everything that’s going in their life and around their life is either their illusion or somebody else’s illusion. Someone once said, does the tree in the forest make a sound when it falls if no one’s there to hear it? That’s kind of what I’m trying to get at today. Our mind is busy trying to create what it hopes is the life it can be happy with, and it puts a great deal of energy into trying to get this job, trying to get this to work, trying to get that to work, what’s going on with this, what’s going on with that, and it all is a very large illusion. Now, you can learn to play with the illusion... however, if you believe the illusion is real, then you basically lost the game.

ALFRED:
Let me try to translate this, Hans. It’s like Disneyland is real and we try to say, "No, it’s Disneyland. You can go there and go have fun, go on the rides, don’t take yourself too seriously. Please don’t cut any lines or bump anybody."

HANS:
You mean like you do.

ALFRED:
I don’t so that anymore.

HANS:
You used to.

ALFRED:
So don’t cut the lines, be nice, be polite to other people in line, get on the ride, have fun, but eventually you’re going to leave Disneyland.

HANS:
Exactly.

ALFRED:
Is that a good analogy?

HANS:
It’s very good. I’m proud of you.

ALFRED:
Some people think Disneyland is real.

HANS:
Yes. You can see that little children would like to believe Disneyland is real.

ALFRED:
I always wanted to fly. I didn’t understand why I couldn’t fly.

HANS:
You don’t have feathers.

ALFRED:
But why? It just doesn’t make any sense.

HANS:
Because different things evolve to do different things.

ALFRED:
Is that my illusion?

HANS:
It may be your illusion, because you get on airplanes and fly across the country all the time and never think anything about that - that’s flying.

ALFRED:
But by myself. Why do I need an airplane?

HANS:
Take that up with God.

ALFRED:
I’ll have to ask when I get to the other side. So anyway, the illusion is believing that what you’re going through, whatever it is, is reality.

HANS:
I learned a long time ago, my friends, to set your intention and hold it. And you’ve heard me throughout the years talk about setting your intentions. I had a great conversation with some wonderful people last night about setting your intentions and holding it. That’s where the power comes from in your life. Unfortunately, people tend to set their intention and then lose the power of it, and then wonder why it doesn’t show up. So, what I’m trying to say to all of you is there is an opportunity in your life to try something new, and that is set your intention and hold it. Don’t second guess it, don’t wonder it, don’t question it, set your intention and everything then comes to be. You see?

ALFRED:
What’s the purpose of having an intention in Disneyland?

HANS:
Joy.

ALFRED:
There we go! The experience of experiencing life as a human.

HANS:
It brings us to a more childlike state. And so going to Disneyland, if you pretend there are no crowds. That’s what I always did. I pretended there were no crowds and therefore I never saw any crowds.

ALFRED:
It’s like driving in traffic in Los Angeles. You can let it upset you or you….

HANS:
As you know, Alfred, for over twenty years I commuted from Ft. Lauderdale to Dadeland, south of Miami, everyday, five days a week, back and forth. I never saw the traffic. I saw the clouds, the thunder, the lightening. I saw the downtown buildings that blinked all their different colors, but I didn’t see the traffic. Therefore, I never suffered the traffic. Get it?

ALFRED:
And the other thing is if somebody does decide to cut you off, instead of getting mad, you can bless them.

HANS:
I do.

ALFRED:
Say, “Please make it home safely without killing yourself or anybody else.”

HANS:
Exactly.

ALFRED:
So it’s how do you look at the experience of this incarnation is what we’re getting at. Not only how do you look at it, but how can you have fun? Find joy?

HANS:
When you see past the illusion, you understand that all that’s happening in your life is what you created. People always think life is what happens to them. No, no, no. You set your intention, you put policy in place, and there is a reaction to the policy which comes back to you, but if your original intention is to find joy and peace, learn to look past the illusion.

ALFRED
Because if you think that the illusion is real, you would actually get upset.

HANS:
Yes.

ALFRED:
And the truth is that there is really nothing to get upset about.

HANS:
You’ve heard me now for five years on this show talk to you about, “They themselves are makers of themselves” by Dr. James Allen. Hear it again, “They themselves are makers of themselves.” In all my sixty years of being in service, it is the single hardest thing I have ever tried to teach anyone.

ALFRED:
I always like to quote the Dalai Lama, because a lot of people, especially our students have said,"Well, there’s lots of stuff that you should be getting upset about." What we like to say is there is a difference between how you hold yourself and injustice in the world. For example, when the Dalai Lama was interviewed recently the interviewer asked, “Well aren’t you upset about what China has done to Tibet?” And the Dalai Lama said, “No.” And the interviewer got very obstinate and said, “How can you not be upset? They’ve invaded your country, they’ve exiled you.” And the Dalai Lama says, “I choose to be happy.” And the poor interviewer could not understand so the Dalai Lama elaborated and said, “Because there is injustice in the world, does not mean it should upset you. I choose to be happy. And as a happy and more peaceful person, then I am more able to deal with the injustice and be a better politician, but I refuse to let that upset me.” Do you see the difference between the two?

HANS:
So when you realize that you are the makers of yourselves, you realize that all that is going on is operating out of your own consciousness. And when you realize it’s all operating out of your own consciousness, you can say, “I choose to see past this illusion and I’m going to create a new one.” So you can keep changing the illusion. For instance, I want to talk to you about the word abundance. We all have an idea what abundance looks for each one of us, but the way I look at abundance is free will and choice and just knowing that you can re-organize your life at any time. That you can train yourself to be peaceful and loving and quiet and kind and compassionate. That’s abundance. Knowing that you are separating yourself from all the craziness that’s going on in the world. That’s abundance. When the Pope came to the country the other day, I was astounded by the volumes of people surrounding him everywhere he went. Hundreds of thousands of people - why? Because he represented peace. He represented compassion, caring. He looked at the injustice, the inequalities and incomes, how that affected the poorest of us. How climate change affected the poorest of us. Now, I’m not a Catholic, but you don’t have to be a Catholic to have those ideals. And each and every one of you can see past the illusion. And that’s the key - to see past the illusion, the illusion that says this is the way it is, this is the way it’s always been, this is the way it’s always going to be. That, people, is not true. And you can remove yourself from the old illusions that you have created for yourself and bring a whole new sense of reality to you. You know about that, Alfred.

ALFRED:
Now, we may be throwing some of you for a loop to say, wait a minute, what does it have to do with changing the world? And we present you with a question and it is: What is the only thing or the only person in the entire universe that you can change? Yourself. You do not have the ability to change anyone else, or anything else, besides you! Yes, you can grab ahold of something, you can do something, but the way spirituality works is you first follow Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings and go within. The rest of the world does not need change for you to be happy. The rest of the world does not need to change or be different for you to find joy. It is your perception of the illusion that determines the amount of joy and peace and happiness in your life. It is first from within that you find joy and happiness. Yes, you may decide to be of service in a specific way, to help in a specific way, absolutely fine, but what we try to emphasize is to first see past the illusion to ensure you come from a peaceful place, you come from a happy place, a joyful place - and then go out and be of service.

HANS:
And you know, folks, what we find difficult to believe when we are in the middle of a mind chatter bombardment from ourselves, is we don’t remember that this isn’t true. We believe that because it’s here and we’re operating in it, therefore it must be real. The truth of the matter is, like the old Buddhist monk said to me once, “Young man, what makes you think that anything is wrong?” Then I gave him the litany and answers to why it was and he said, “No, no, son, that’s your perception of the moment. That doesn’t mean that anything is wrong. There is nothing wrong, it’s only how you perceive it.”

ALFRED:
Changing your perception is not trying to understand. If you try to understand the way the world is, you will drive yourself nuts and bring yourself into human-ness. We’re not saying that. Instead, we’re saying - let go, try to understand there’s a greater plan. There’s so many things that are so far beyond your understanding. Because if you let yourself get upset and you think you understand the way things are and you think you understand the injustice, notice all the understandings and aggravations that are happening because you’re dragging yourself into human-ness. Instead, as the Buddhist monk told Hans, what makes you think anything is truly wrong? For example if you see a poor person - do you have the judgment that someone is wrong? Well, how do you know if that person for example had a prior life where he was really rich and he treated poor people badly, and he decided to come back as a poor person to teach himself a lesson what its like to live as a poor person. And that person’s life no matter what, he always had enough money, had a roof over his head, but he was poor. Is there anything wrong? Or is it quite simply an experience he wished to participate in. So you have two choices when you are looking at the illusion to try to understand the way things are, or as we’re recommending as #one, stop trying to understand the illusion and just be happy. And yes, if you wish to be of service, perfectly fine. If you wish to feed the poor, clothe the poor, donate, volunteer your time, perfectly fine. But what is missing? Judgment. I have a judgment. I’m trying to understand why the world is bad, why things are wrong, that I have a judgment that things are wrong. Instead, you take the spiritual approach, as Hans was guided so long ago by the Buddhist monk, “What makes you think that anything is wrong?”

HANS:
It’s our mind that portrays us as a victim. It’s our mind that portrays us as poor. It’s our mind that portrays us as not having any hope. The mind produces all of this junk, then has the audacity to try to prove it’s true by calling up things from our history that show, “Oh here, I’m back in the same rut.” The fact, for instance, that everyone is listening to the show today, the fact of it, is a miracle in and of itself. Twenty years ago, folks, we couldn’t have done this show, it wouldn’t have been possible. Twenty years ago, nobody knew what an email was going to be. So we’ve advanced enormously, and are so blessed to have computers that can show us. Right now I’m looking at the flowers in my rose garden, and thinking how beautiful they are, and now some orchids that I have, and I’m thinking - wow, we are so lucky to be able to see these things. And therefore, I go to the place that says, “What if there is nothing wrong?”

ALFRED:
So what we’re trying to say is, it’s not that there is something wrong or something right, those are judgments, and in general spiritual principles try not to have a judgment – it’s the way you go about life. It’s... do you find your purpose by trying to fix things, or do you go about life by saying, "No - all of this is an illusion. There’s no way possible I could ever understand everything that’s going on. I choose to be happy. And oh, by the way, once I’m finally happy I decide to go out and be of service." Isn’t that just a lot more relaxing?

HANS:
I think so. You know, what we’re trying to give you is a sense of peace and hope. I’m looking at a picture of the Buddha’s face right now and how the Buddha talked about compassion, and it talked about how there is nothing wrong. It’s our perception of what’s going on in our life, and when we fully understand that there is nothing wrong, we can breathe a sigh of relief in knowing that the Spirit loves us so. We’re moving through this world to learn some lessons we chose to learn. Nobody made us come here, nobody made us be here. We’re here by our own design, and knowing this, opens us to all the wonderful possibilities for our life, but, again, you have to be able to see past the illusion of your life.

ALFRED:
And that’s where it all starts. Do you continuously allow yourself to get upset, aggravated, bringing negative energy into your being, because you think you understand the way things are and the way things should be (which is very human), or do you surrender into things that they just are? I am. It is. And start from within. These are polar opposites that we’re trying to tell you here. One way, the first way, is very aggravating and human, and the second way is very peaceful and internal, and calming. And if you view the illusion as something that is not meant to be understood, you’re supposed to work on yourself first and then once you work on yourself, then go and be of service without judgment, without expectation. To say, “Where should I serve? What do I want to experience?” Notice the lack of stress, notice the lack of negativity, notice the lack of aggravation, the lack of human-ness. That’s what we’re trying to tell you to let go of. By letting go of the illusion, the need to understand the illusion, the need to change the illusion, manipulate the the illusion, to be of service, and we’re saying, no, no you don’t. That’s not the path forward that God has put in front of us. The path is to let go of the illusion, to let go of the expectations and judgements, trying to understand the illusion, and to be peaceful and to be happy, and, sure, then go and be of service.

HANS:
Gandhi once said “Be the change you want to see.”

ALFRED:
Yes, it starts from within and if there ever was anybody who made some serious changes in the world it’s Mahatma.

HANS:
Mahatma brought down the British Empire with an intention to free his people. He never fired a shot. He never went to war.

ALFRED:
So we’re trying to tell you this stuff works.

HANS:
It really does. And the more you set yourself free from your own internal mechanism of thinking and perception, the more that comes to you.

ALFRED:
We actually agree on this one Hans.

HANS:
We do. We usually agree on most things. You usually see it my way. I couldn’t pass that up! We so enjoy doing this show. We so enjoy being with you and getting the beautiful comments we do, like after last weeks show. What you really need to hear folks is, “Yes you can, and yes I am.” When you finally hear that, “Oh, I’m not my thinking. I’m not in pain. I’m in joy!” Find a flower. Find a cloud, find a bird, find a bug, and just ask yourself - do these creatures, these living things, worry? Or do they simply show up? Everyday. For their life. Which is what you should be doing. People have a tendency to actually believe their own thinking, so what I’m trying to help you to understand is that you don’t have to believe your thinking, you have to believe the joy of who you are. Spirit already knows where you need to be. They already know what’s important for your life cycle. Tell Them what you would like the experience of, and simply know it. Be in joy. I’m going to make this up, say a family member calls and upsets you terribly, because another family member hasn’t shown up to their expectations they want a dialogue with you and say, “No.”

ALFRED:
If that sounds familiar, family issues, you probably are an old soul.

HANS:
Say to the person, “I hear you but I choose not to allow you to upset me today. This is not my problem.” If your boss chews you out at work and you have to say - yes sir, yes ma’am, turn to your internal self and say - this has nothing to do with me. I chose not to be a part of this. This is somebody else’s opinion. It’s nothing more and nothing less, and get on with your life. Don’t judge yourself by the conditions of your life, don’t judge yourself by the people in your life. There will always be people who are vexations to the soul. Always. Your job is to stay away from them. And I don’t care how close they may be to you, I don’t care who they are, there are times when you need to let go of people who simply don’t measure up to your peace.

ALFRED:
Again, we go back to the saying - who is only person, what is the only thing in the world you can control? Yourself.

HANS:
And sometimes folks, illness may come to visit. Remember, it’s come to visit the body. Give the illness to the Spirit and say, “I’m available for pure health and pure wellness.” Remember you have that power.

Alrighty, Alfred, I think that will conclude the lesson for today.

Topic: Less is More
August 29, 2015

HANS:
Hi everybody. Good to be back with you. Today we're going to be talking about "Less is More.” You've heard my story, that way back when, when I was just a kid, my dad said to me: Always remember son, Less is More. I really couldn't figure out what he was talking about because everything in life had been geared to acquiring “more.” More education, more money, bigger house, bigger car, better health... Everything was “more and more.”

So when he said: Always remember that Less is More, it didn't sink in. I didn't fully get the impact of that for some time to come. And then one day, I went through a terrible experience. Terrible, insofar as I perceived it, as a terrible loss. And I did the human thing. I mourned it, I cried over it. It was pretty bad. And again, he said to me: Remember what I told you - Less is More.

I began to understand that our mind chatter disturbs our ease, disturbs our peace, fills our time with necessities, fills our time with pain, sorrow. And then I began to see the less we have invested in the outcome of anything, the more it comes to us. Alfred has gone through that experience. I've gone through that experience.

But when you try to explain to someone: Put this in your heart that Less is More, it comes right up against - But what if we don't make it? What if I'm not enough? What if I lose this job? What if I don't get another job? What if I never have another partner? And you have to go to battle with it. Because the mind wants to tell you More is Better and The Spirit wants to tell you Less is More.

Now you remember what I said to you any number of months ago when I said: Nothing you are ever going to acquire will you ever get to keep. Remember that? So all the stuff that you're trying so hard at filling up all your space, all your time with, in the end... it's nothing. It matters not. It matters who you are, how you loved you, how you loved others.

I have a dear friend of mine who has been battling a major illness. One that she most likely would have never survived except for her deep seated belief that she was already enough. And that less was more... she would get the healing. She had over 20 tumors in her body, all cancerous, lymphoma. They have all disappeared.

And what she did was to go for the experimental treatment, but at the same time, to bring herself to a beautiful place internally that says: I already am enough. I'm enough to stay alive. I'm enough to be healed. We go through terrible times in our lives based on our personal perception of what's happening. You've been there before Alfred.

ALFRED:
Yes. And what we're trying to do, is what we try to do every Show, is give you a different perspective, a different viewpoint, a different way of going about life. The typical human way to go about life, Western way to go about life, is I need more... I need to get more... I need to have a bigger salary... a bigger car... nicer clothes... better shoes.. climb the ladder to get a better title... a prettier wife... a bigger house... Sound familiar anybody?

That is a human way which is happiness is through acquiring. And what we're trying to tell is the spiritual path is by letting go... is by surrendering. If you're looking for happiness and you're finding that the rat race and keeping up with the Jones' isn't making you happy, then we're telling you the alternative. Which is by letting go, by giving, by surrendering. That is an alternative path to happiness.

HANS:
It's really hard for us all to turn loose of our perceptions. We have to have this to be better, we have to have that to be better. So we did a program called "You Are Enough" which you can get on my Shopping Cart at my website. And you get quite a discount because you are Members and are watching the Show. And what it says is: What if you woke up tomorrow morning and found out just who you are in this moment was enough for God?

There was nowhere you needed to go, nothing you needed to be, nothing you needed to become. You were already enough. This is an alien concept. It's an alien concept. Alfred, when did you discover that for yourself?

ALFRED:
When you told me.

HANS:
Ah. (Laughing) And there's a smart-alack in every Class.

ALFRED:
So again, one of the focuses of what we're trying to do with this Show, and these little snippits, is help you realize perspectives of ways of being that you may not have known about. To say: There is a different way to go about life. You don't have to “acquire” education, money, material things, to be happy. We're saying there is a different path to happiness through peacefulness.

HANS:
Every morning when you wake up, sit on the side of your bed for just a moment. Turn of the mind chatter about "have to's," "need to get someplace," "time"... and just say something to this effect: I am blessed today because my God loves me just the way I am. I do not need to change who I am. I am that I am and it's perfect. Try saying it every day you wake up. Watch and see the difference it makes in your life as you begin to go down your day's path.

It's important for us to realize that we walk through an illusionary world. Nothing in it is actually real. It's a culmination of other people's understandings and ideas that they have projected forward. As you think about what I've just said: We are walking through everybody else's illusion. You see? Even the restaurant that you stop to have your breakfast in was someone's illusion. Someone created that. That wasn't there before.

And because it's all illusionary, you can create your own space and your own illusion within the illusions that keep you from being effected by anything that might be negative in the illusion. Start your day, every day, by saying: Today Less is More, I'm perfect. And you will see a wonderful change in the way you perceive the world and the way you think the world perceives you. Alfred?

ALFRED:
Great. And that brings us to our second topic for today of Less is More. Less helps you have a more spiritual life.

HANS:
It absolutely does. Because as you've heard me say for years now: No two things can be in the same place at the same time. You have to let go of one in order to acquire the other. That's life. And if your head is filled with a bunch of stuff about "have to," "need to," "should've," "would've," "could've"... There's no space for Spirit to step in and say: Be peaceful, child. You already are enough. Everything is fine.

They can't do it. Because you've so blocked the channel with all your worrying and fussing and all the things that... And I'm not saying to any of you that Alfred and I don't, on occasion, have those times... that we get upset about something. Alfred did this morning as a matter of fact when he went to the stock market.

ALFRED:
I got upset?

HANS:
Yes. (Laughing) He won't tell you that, but he does. He's perfect in every way... just look at him. So when we have expectations, we have limitations to our own soul. You hear me? When we have expectations, we have limitations to our soul. The wisest people I know oftentimes feel they're not enough. The smartest people I know oftentimes feel they're not good enough. I can tell you of Stars and people in this work that we do here that you would be utterly and absolutely astounded at if you knew that every once in awhile they too go through a little bit of the dark side.

But you know what I like about the dark? It reminds us so much why we love the light. I've always told you for years: You can't shine the dark in the light. So by blocking the negative aspect of the dark, which is your mind chatter, you allow Spirit to come in and sit in your heart, you allow Spirit to open the doors. They already know what you want. Yes, you can remind them what you would like the experience of and They will respond to that.

But They already know your path. They already know what's sitting in your heart. They already know your desires. And no, They're not spying on you. The other morning a woman wanted to know if Spirit could see everything. Do they know some of our dark secrets?

ALFRED:
Yes.

HANS:
Yes. And I don't care. That's human stuff and They're not bothered by that. They just see the little baby angel, that's it. So, Alfred?

ALFRED:
Less is More is also a path to spirituality. Pretty much every spiritual path will always say: Be peaceful. In order to be peaceful, you need to have less mind chatter, you need to be less human, you need to let go of expectations, opinions... all those type of human aspects in order to come to a peaceful place. And it is from that peaceful place that you not only will find happiness and bliss and joy, but it is from that peaceful place that Spirit can enter your life and work "with" you.

See spirituality is not just about finding yourself... your true spiritual self. Which is what we've talked about letting go of humanness, letting go of mind chatter, letting go of opinions... all those things. But the second path in spirituality is about your relationship with the Universe, your Guidance, Spirit, God, and how to work with Them.

And the very first stage is: Can you be peaceful and quiet enough internally that you can begin to “hear” Guidance, that you can begin to work “with” Them. So it's not just you on this path. That if you can actively let go of your humanness enough to be in a calm enough place, a peaceful enough place, a quiet enough place, in order to "hear" the Guidance that's always around you.

HANS:
The optimum word right there was to "hear." Because we can't "hear" when we're busy listening to our own thoughts.

Alright. That will conclude the lesson for today.

Topic:  You Are The Master of Your Own Ship
January 31, 2015

Hans:
Good evening everyone. This is Hans and today's topic is "You are the Master of Your own Ship."

Probably one of the most important lessons in awareness that I can give you is the fact that you're not here by accident, you're here by design. Now you all have heard me talk about this before. But it's very important to remember that you are not a victim of this lifetime. Nobody made us come here, nobody said here: Peggy you have to go down now and you have do this, that... No, no, no, no. Remember that Council Table that I talked to you about where we look at our past lives and where we may have been stuck, what we might want to sort of undo, if you will. So there is that plan that when we come in we do have that sort of karmic blueprint stapled to our behind. Now when we say that "You Are The Master of Your Own Ship," it is that no other person has dominion over you. No one. Yes, there are karmic obligations with certain people. Absolutely. However, none of those karmic obligations are meant in any way to keep you from your personal choices and your personal dharma. Okay? So just so you'll know that Spirit wants you to always know... Spirit wants you to know that you are here by design. Now you've heard me on almost every show "You're here by design." What does that mean? It means that You Are The Master of Your Own Ship. You tell the universe what you would like the experience of and the laws of the universe then begin to put themselves in motion for your experience.

Now, let's say, for instance, that you would like... Let's say you're praying and you say to Spirit: I would like the experience of a new house. Okay, so you put it out there. Somewhere in many of you a little tiny green meanie will say: Well I don't know how that's going to happen or how is that ever going to happen or you know what if I don't deserve it? And there's a little negative thing that comes in. And once that negative has entered the picture in any way, shape, or form, it negates the original request. If you say to Spirit, something... Put it like this: If it is for me, I would like the experience of the following please. I know I'm in the right place at the right time and I am accepting of this and all that you send regarding this request. I give it to you. I put it in your hands. I now have no expectations. Boy, that's hard to do. But when you do that, you're literally telling the ship's Captain which way to steer the boat. You're not telling him how to do it, you're saying: I trust you, this is the destination I would like to go to. What that does is that's says "I trust, I believe, I know you will do that which is best for me."

What happens in society and happens in life is that on our way to thinking that we want to do this, we're going to do that, and all this stuff, there is a built in society sort of conspiracy to remind you that you're not enough, to remind you... For instance, if you all remember the salad days of the craziness we went through in 2001 through 2008 where you saw everyday on the TV: Oh, do you have any equity in your house? Let us give you a dream come true. Let's take that equity away from you but we're going to give you a boat. We're going to give you a second house. Oh, don't worry about the payoff, oh, we'll just stick it on here, we'll stick it on there, a little bit more inches, don't worry about it, you'll grow into the loan. Now we knew that when we were doing that it was not sound financial substance.

So what I'm asking you to do is to look at the fact that if you want that boat, if you want that big screen television set, give it to Spirit and do what they send for you to do to get that. And most of the time they will say: Will you be just a little patient please? We heard you. We are working on it. But right away for us when we make a request to Spirit and it doesn't happen immediately it fits into a place internally inside of us that says: I knew I wasn't good enough. Somewhere in there it says to us: I knew I shouldn't have asked for that. Why is it somebody else gets that but I don't get that? And we forget that basically since we are the master of our own ship, each one of us is on a different boat. We may all be going in the same direction, children, but we're in different boats based on our dharma, our karma, what we have chosen to learn. And so learning to flow with the possibilities of your own soul, learning to flow with the power, the love and the warmth of Spirit opens our life to so many unimaginable experiences.

Talking to a lady today who said to me: You know Hans, I listened to a show a couple of weeks ago and you said we choose our life and our friends and she said: I got so mad at you I didn't listen to the next week's show. She said: Then I went back and I listened to what you said originally. And she said I realized: Oh, he's saying take responsibility for your direction. Give the clarity to the Spirit and they will more than meet you halfway. They literally will present doors that lead you to that inevitability. She said: So I tried that. And she said: Something I've been struggling for for over four years, when I gave it to the Spirit and I said: I am asking you, this is the direction I want to go and I'm asking you to present the door. She said: Out of nowhere, out of nowhere, almost immediately, in a day or two, came the solution. She said: Why is it the truth is so simple?

When you are the master of your own ship, when you let go and you let God, you would be amazed at what begins to happen. Even though we may have karmic debt, in my experience, which is sizable at my age, I have never seen karmic debt ruin a person's life. Not ever, not ever. I mean I hear it every day that I work somebody will say to me: Well I know and I believe in what you say but I don't believe it can happen for me because nothing ever has happened, I believe I must have been a bad person in a previous life, I know that money isn't mine, I know that I'm not going to find a boyfriend, but I totally believe. No you don't. What god would you pray to who said to you: Oh, by the way you need to stay alone. What god would you pray to that says: Ah sorry, but this lifetime you're a bag lady. Do you know that's the second most common asked question I have from women is will I be a bag lady? Will I have a roof over my head? And during these very, very difficult times it's helpful to remember that of course you will never be a bag lady because you have no place in your heart, there's no lesson you need to learn by being a bag lady. Because your bank account is the largest in the universe. Have you ever had to pay your rent folks, or your mortgage payment, and you just couldn't find the money? It just wasn't there? Have you ever noticed that almost always, a way is found? A way is found. Do you know the banks have not foreclosed on 70% of all the homes in default in this country? They don't want them. They don't want them. Give the bank a call. Work something out.

The greatest gift the universe ever gives you, the greatest gift God, the Spirit, all that love and protect us, ever gives us is free will. Talking to a gentleman today and he said: Are you saying you can choose to be happy or you can choose to be sad? I said: That's what I'm saying to you. He said: What do you do when you've lost a partner of 40 years? I said: You smile and say: Thank you for those wonderful years. I'm going to see you again not too far down the road and we'll share our memories together. We don't suffer those who pass away. We suffer the pain that is left because they're not here for us and with us. I deal with people's crossings every day that I work. And I've never seen someone come back and say: I'm having a really rotten time. This is a place you don't want to come to. I really don't like this place at all. Not ever. They talk about how warm and cozy, how free they feel, how young they feel, they're not in pain, they're not old anymore, their bodies are young and vital. All of you remember that when you go back to Spirit you take on the appearance of somewhere between, I would guess, 28-32, somewhere in through there, where you really were looking pretty sexy, pretty hot, and that's how you look. Oftentimes people will say to me: Well Hans, I saw my mother but she wasn't the old lady who passed away, she looked very young and very vital. Well that's the Etheric body. That's what we're all going to look like. But not like each other, of course (laughing), but our own Etheric body.

If you could put in your heart "I'm not a victim of this.” No matter what it looks like. If circumstances take me to the fact that I'm probably going to move whether I like it or not, you'll get it as a new adventure. What can I create out of this? No matter what you're handed, kids, what can I create out of this. Look, I had to do that. You all know that. Recession hit me, very, very hard.  I went through a difficult health period. I had to stop traveling. I've been traveling for over thirty some years, thirty-five, thirty-seven years. And that was 70% of my income. I lost my partner of 47 years and there I was. Wow, out here in the middle of nowhere. I retrenched, I regrouped, Alfred came on-board to give me a hand, doors began to open, I moved back to this country for awhile. And since that time, everything good has happened for me. We have a new friend helping us, Jennifer, who has literally, I think Alfred you would agree, the answer to prayer. And we have Corina. We have people who've come to help us because we literally got overwhelmed. I mean all of you who stick with us know that sometimes the Radio Show may be there, sometimes it may not all this trying to get things to work. So bit by bit, day by day, we're working it out and we're working it together. But we know that all we have to do is tell Spirit what direction we would like to go in. That's all.

So I'm going to open you all up to this thought: There's nothing going on in your life today that at some point you didn't create. If you have difficult thinking, fearful thinking, negative thinking, no matter how positive you try to be, the mind chatter 9 times out of 10, if you don't learn to control it, will literally overtake the you are the master of your own ship belief system and it will say don't be silly, you wouldn't have chose this, you wouldn't have chose that, look your mother said this, your dad did that, your ex-husband, your ex-wife, all the pain, the children, all that, you would have never chosen any of this. Oh yes, you would have. But you don't know that.

I remember once I was at a satsang. And I think I've said this to you before, I had a friend named Swami Satchidananda. And Sri Swami, I'm not a devotee, I was a friend because his personal secretary, Ahma, was a friend of our family's. And I was at a satsang one day, I think it was a Saturday or something like that, and I remember a little boy during the question period down in the front row said: Gurudev, why is it that the universe never lets us see the whole picture? And Gurudev pulled down his little glasses. He said: Oh child, he said: Because you would change it. And what makes you think that this limited gray matter in your head can possibly comprehend the universe's path for you? So think about that. Think on that for a minute. If you knew, you would change it. And where would be the value if you didn't have to face your lessons? And the lessons, I might add, that you put in place. So you came in with the lessons that you wanted to learn, you came in with free will. Now sometimes, not always but sometimes, something that you wanted to learn runs a conflicting path with what you want to do. So what do you do when you have these two things diverging? You slow down and you say: Alright, what is it here that I'm trying to see? What is it here, what is the mind chatter that continuously comes up on this issue? Is it fear, faith? What is it? Self-esteem?  Do you know that self-esteem and self-worth bury more people's dreams than any condition on earth? And those all come out of your own consciousness. If you wish to be worried about anything, if you wish to be fearful about anything, children be fearful of your own thinking force. Because it is the one thing, since energy follows thought, if your mind is producing negative thought towards a positive idea, the positive idea will go away. Because there's no place for it to come and visit you. It's like saying: I want a relationship but I know I'll never get one. Hello? Well what are you going to get? Exactly.

I said, almost 60 years ago, that when I grew up one day I wanted to live on the West Coast of Mexico. And everybody looked and me and said: Oh, he's a nice boy but he's a little strange. Well I do. I said I wanted to live in the desert one day. Well I do. I've had all these experiences because I didn't let my mind chatter tell me I couldn't do it. Don't tell me what I can't do. I don't want anyone to tell me what I can't do. Don't let anyone tell you what you can't do. Tell them what you're going to do. You may be sitting children in a nice, small, clean little apartment somewhere. Be grateful that you have it in this time. You may say: One day I'd  like to have a larger home with a pool and a wonderful partner and a dog and I would like the experience of not “having” to work for a living. If you believe that, and you do not allow any negative mind chatter to come in and tell you you're not good enough, you're not worth it, your mother never said you... Any of this victim nonsense, you will arrive, if it is for you, at that destination. And I have very rarely ever seen anyone who set upon a path that they could not accomplish. I can't recall very many of them.

I know someone today who worked in the Silicon Valley as a computer designer. He designed chips for computers, very good at it. And he always wanted to be in service. He wanted to help others. And he tried several things that didn't quite work out. He went back to his old job again. However, in the long-run, in the long-run, he wound up with a beautiful Center in Hawaii. And he is helping people, workshops, he and his wife doing workshops, seminars. Because he wouldn't let the appearance dictate the reality. Do not, kids, allow the circumstances of the moment to dictate your reality. Just because you're in that apartment, just because you're out of work, just because your car doesn't work well, just because all of that is there doesn't mean anything is wrong. It is all "part of" you see. If you want to go for a trip and you want to drive your car, you can't go anywhere if there isn't a road. Listen to me - you can't go anywhere if there isn't a road. All the bumpy times and the things that don't work - all that nonsense that we're bombarded by in and out of our life, that is the cement, that's the asphalt, the glue, that paves the road. Your car cannot do its best job if it has no road. You don't want to drive it over hills and bumps and hitting the ground and all that. No, no, no, no, no. You want your path to be smooth and then you can take your car and drive it anywhere you want to go because you have already paved the road. You understand? That's what the darker times are all about is paving the road. Remember in life that every single solitary thing has a corresponding opposite. Cause and effect. Corresponding opposite. As far down as you are is you just reverse it and see that's how high you will go eventually. As high as you are, you will have a down time. But the down times never define you because you know and hold the original intention.

I work in Hollywood a lot. And I'm blessed to know many people that you all know. Some people were getting $20, $30 million a picture. They're now getting $10. And you're saying: Well, poor them. Well, you know what? When you structure your life at $20 and $30 million, it becomes a problem. I was taught, when I was a child, that a penny saved is a penny earned. Remember that okay? A penny saved is a penny earned. Do not spend more than you make - period. And you will always be fine. So on that note, before we start our questions, I want you to all know that even though you may have sort of messed up a little bit in your consciousness about your belief system, even though you may have gotten off your track, please know this: Spirit has in mind an easy way for you to get back on track and that is "belief." Simply stop for a moment and say: I no longer give power to this negative thinking. I am the master of my own ship. I choose not to allow my mind chatter to destroy my potential, to destroy my possibilities. I absolutely refuse. I'm turning my life back to God. I'm turning my life back to Spirit. I am the master of my own ship and they and I have a boat and a chart together. And yes you can!

Remember again, the greatest gift that the universe ever gives you is self-esteem and free will. Armed with free will and self-esteem you can accomplish anything. Don't let the appearances drag you down. Don't let people drag you down. That's why we say when someone starts to rag on us we say: Excuse me, not my problem. Don't allow anyone, or anything, children, to disturb your ease. We all have friends and they want to come over and they want to rag and say: Oh, so and so did this or my kid did that... Just turn to them and say: It's all perfect. It always works out in the end. Don't worry. Let's not discuss it. How are you today? How are you today? And if they keep going back, say: When you feel you want to be happy, come back and see me. You know, it's true that a problem shared with a friend is halved. However just having someone there to look at your possibilities, to look at your potential, not your victim place, but to say: Well that may be true but did you know that this is what you could be doing? Did you know this doesn't cost any money? Did you know that there are millions of people looking for someone? Don't worry about it. Of course it's going to work out. Okay?

Topic:  How To Find Your Life Mission
January 16, 2015

Hans:
Hello everyone. So nice to be back with you today. It's an interesting topic "How to Find Your Life's Mission." You know if you can remember back to when you were a very young child... if you found yourself, for instance, being drawn to coloring airplanes, or mechanical things – I had tinker toys and wanted to put things together, intricate things together. If your parents are wise they kind of know what direction they may want to bring to you. If you find yourself wanting to do something for someone else, a neighbor, go help the little lady across the street who's a widow, just wanting to give and help people and it just comes really natural to you, that's a sure sign that you're going to be in service in this lifetime. Some people have multi-talents, Alfred, and they may head down one road and experience that but that door often leads to another door. Now you remember that don't you?

Alfred:
Absolutely, Hans.

Hans:
Did you find that when you were going down the one road... Did you find that you felt when you were doing that that's where you needed to be at that moment or did you feel you were doing that but there was something else gnawing at you?

Alfred:
No. I knew that's what I was supposed to be doing at that time in my life. There was just some reason, which I didn't understand, that drove me to go in certain directions and do certain things and leave opportunities that people couldn't understand in order to go in a direction that even I couldn't understand.

Hans:
This is often the case and what I try to help people to understand is throughout life Spirit presents us with what I call "Doors of Opportunities" and they'll... You know you say: Well, I want the experience of this. And now their job is to help you to do that but they also see the larger picture and they know there's another thing that your soul wanted to experience so they put in the one but they leave this little second door, sort of always there, sort of almost like gnawing at you just a little bit, like I wish I had a look at this. And eventually that interest, that bit of intrigue on that grows to a point where you actually say: You know, I wonder if I should do that? And I always say to people: Follow your impressions. They are given to you by your Guides, they are given to you by the God-force. Follow your impressions. Because when you simply deal with the mind and the mind chatter and all that goes along with that, you immediately are in limitation. You know, I know people who are so invested in the way something needs to be and maybe they've gathered around them a group of friends who also agree this is the way this needs to be, this is what's supposed to be. But that can't affix a change for some reason. The reason is that they're not supposed to make that change. They are to use that as a vehicle to change themselves. That's what people don't want to deal with, is they have a problem, I find Alfred, in seeing past their limitations. Have you found this to be true?

Alfred:
And that's part of the hard part... is to just begin with the simple understanding that Spirit is there to guide you to a career, a job, a place, to people that you asked to experience before you were born. See all of those reasons "why" you wanted to experience those things were based upon karma, dharma, previous lifetimes, where you are in your soul's growth. Then you come down here and you get bombarded by media, friends, pressure, and sometimes the two just don't match. So Spirit is guiding you in one direction saying you asked us to point you in this direction, thus we're giving you this little feeling that you should do that. And all of these other social pressures, family pressures, are taking you in a different direction. And what we're trying to tell you is if you want to begin finding your path in life, you need to start looking within, feeling within, connecting to Guidance, to find why you're here.

Hans:
You know Alfred, sometimes when we don't feel that we fit or we don't feel we're being recognized by family, or by work, or friends, we have a tendency to blame the situation rather than look at ourselves. And so we find ourself saying: Well, this person doesn't understand me, and this group should be doing this, and this organization needs to change... And we find ourselves blaming others for refusing to deal with the self in the situation. Rather than say you know this situation doesn't suit me or this situation doesn't serve me. What we tend to do is then become victims of this situation, throwing our life's lesson right to the wind.  And we are bigger, we are better than that situation. That situation is not who we are. But we begin to continue to sever... and we build an entire identity around the suffering of the situation. That can be a relationship, Alfred, it could be work, it could be any number of things. But once we slip into that self victimization role, it takes a very long time to get out of it. Don't you find that's true?

Alfred:
And that's a lot of the teachings that we go over is you have a choice and we're explaining to you what that major choice is. The choice is to follow human thought, what human's think is important, what is important or perceived to be important in the physical world or you can follow these teachings to guide you what is important spiritually speaking. Now of course the issue is is because we're in the physical world, the physical aspects of image, ego, money, family, media, that seems really relevant. It's there. It seems like it's real.

Hans:
Yeah. Those are the key word there Alfred – seems like it's real.

Alfred:
And what we're trying to tell you do is see past the illusion. That's why you're here. I think in every major religion they talk about "overcoming." Well, they all define it differently. Our definition of "overcoming" is - see past the illusion, overcome the illusion. Practice being and connecting to Spirit to find your life's mission.

Hans:
Excellent. You know Alfred, I had a client any number of years ago who was like number 3, number 4, in a very large corporation and this individual had worked themselves up from a sales clerk ,as a matter of fact ,clear up to the top and he just couldn't get over the next hurdle. Years went by. They didn't affix the changes that he wanted, they continually bypassed him for promotions, and he began to become a victim of the situation and he kept saying I don't understand why they won't do the things that I know are best for them. And finally one day Spirit said to him: What makes you think they're supposed to? Oh, and then he gave us this litany of reasons why they're supposed to. And then Spirit says: What makes you think that you're supposed to be there anymore? Well, it's my job, this is all I know, this is what I worked for. And they said: No, this is what you've done so far. There's much more for you to do. And he absolutely refused to believe it. And a year went by, and another year went by and Spirit said the same thing each time he came to visit. So finally one day he said I've decided to take a package that's been offered to me by the company. The day he took that package he said, Alfred, it was like someone took a huge weight off his shoulders. Within 3 months, a smaller, fairly established start-up company hired him, heard about him, hired him, for more money than he was making before, with terrific stock options and he's now number 2 in the company and working towards the chairmanship.

Alfred:
And that's a really difficult story. So let me try to explain that because I came from...

Hans:
You lived that I know. (Hans laughing)

Alfred:
... one of those corporate backgrounds. But it applies to everyone. We want to find out what "is" our life mission? But that's not the way the Other Side works.

Hans:
No.

Alfred:
And Hans taught me this very early to say... because I asked the same question for a couple years and every time Hans gave me the same answer. If you knew your life's mission, you would change it.

Hans:
Yes.

Alfred:
Because you're addressing it from a human perspective. The Other Side is not going to give you your life's mission until you are a spiritual being functioning as Spirit, being as Spirit, and then you won't have any judgment and opinion from a human perspective to change your life's mission. In other words, by the far majority of the people who are listening to this, you're not going to get your life's mission, you're going to get what is the next step...

Hans:
For you on your growth.

Alfred:
... on your life path. Okay?

Hans:
That's correct.

Alfred:
So if you're looking for your life path, like this guy, it's what is the step in front of me. And then once you take that step, the next step will appear and that is how you find your life mission. By far, for the majority of us is if you're looking for your life path – okay, like every other spiritual lesson – look in the now. What is the lesson that is directly in front of you?

Hans:
Exactly Alfred.

Alfred:
And that is your path - what is directly in front of you in the moment.

Hans:
You know, I'm reminded Alfred, that sometimes we keep fishing in the same pond for a fish that doesn't exist in that pond. But by golly we're going to make certain that it appears so we keep fishing in it. And that's what people do with relationships, it's what they do with their employment, it's what they do with their friends. If something, kids, isn't working for you, it isn't for you. There are other options, even though your mind chatter may tell you oh no, there isn't, even if your friends say oh no you can't leave this job, oh no, if you leave this job you're done for. No. Because one day that same job that gave you your identity will be taken away from you whether you like it or you don't like it you're out the door. So all the time that you spent wanting to have this thing show up in your expectations was for absolutely no reason whatsoever. The ego then becomes in involved.

Alfred:
Yeah, and that's something you need to look at. If you keep trying something and it doesn't work, you keep trying something and it doesn't work, you keep trying something and it doesn't work... You have all these friends that keep doing the exact same thing, the lesson keeps getting presented to you over and over and over again. Take a look at it.

Hans:
Yeah. You know there's a saying Alfred that's out there today and I don't know why but it just cracks me up. But so many times in my career I've had to say to someone who is insisting that my teachings don't work for them, or this will never work, or this is too simplistic, or they need to have this change. And then I'll say: Okay, well how's that working for you? Are you winning that battle? Are you getting your point across? Are you affixing the changes you're trying to do? How's it working for you? And most of the time, Alfred, they will say: It's not. And Spirit will say: Then why do you keep trying it? Because I know, they say, that's where I'm supposed to be. You see? So that is their ego taking over responsibility for their life. If you are in a job and that job doesn't work for you, just simply doesn't work... you're not promoted when you should be, you don't get the respect from your peers, from the people at the top, if that isn't working for you, somebody tell me why in the world are you in that job? Why are you doing that to yourself?

Alfred:
And that's the hard one to understand is we're taught to push, to work through the stress...

Hans:
Right.

Alfred:
... to work through being tired.

Hans:
Well, you were taught that. And that's for sure.

Alfred:
Yes, yes. I had it drilled into me. What we're saying, spiritually speaking, that's human. And it's a choice whether to live your life according to human ways or if you want to find the reason you were born, to look at it from a spiritual perspective. If it's not working, then you're off your path.

Hans:
You're off your path. And if you're suffering in your work...

Alfred:
Then you're addressing it from human values, human thought, ego.

Hans:
Right:

Alfred:
If you're following our teachings, you'll understand – there is no suffering. That's a choice.

Hans:
That is a choice. You know Alfred, that's interesting you bring that up. A lot of times I have found that people feel that they're spiritual. People feel that they have the answer; they've grown spiritually. If you are suffering in any element, whether it's your work, a friendship, a job, you are not developed spiritually – period. No matter what you say to yourself, no matter how many lies you tell yourself, you are not. Because a true spiritual being knows there is nothing wrong – period. Nothing. So for all of you who are unhappy in the circumstances in your life, what a blessing. It is announcing to you it doesn't work, time to let go of your perceptions and open yourself up to that true spiritual nature of who you are and your life at that point will really begin to change. Alright, well that concludes the lesson for today.
